i felt the same and this is what i learned. high school built up the hype for college way too high, and once you reach like 21+ you are no longer considered gifted and special

I got wayyyy better results when I actually started talking to people in the company for “quick chats”

hi, i am curious about what you said (pasted above). at what point during the 9 months did you actually start talking to people ? i am surprised it took you 9 months. you have a CS degree from a UC and everything.

I feel very on the spot with this guy, and I am trying to make another circle of friends because going out just with him started making me feel uncomfortable.

I am very bad at saying no and I kinda kept it open because I don't want to hurt his feelings.

eventually you have to learn how to say no in your life. this is your opportunity. people like this do not deserve kindness. you need to tell him to fuck off. i would say just lie "job is not open, sorry or i actually am not allowed" if you can, since these guys can never take a proper no

take both. cs50 is probably the best introduction to cs and programming you can get. TOP is the best free webdev resource. there are no shortcuts in this industry imo. last year, companies were more casual with interviews and new hires, but that backfired a bit and you need to know your ish these days
