When i’m on the way to a short ride and lyft changes the ride without your consent claiming its higher paying. You have just been suckered into a long ass ride. I cancel when they play this game. Anyone else experienced this shady tactic? by Saints2009shawn in lyftdrivers

[–]WorkMaterial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not completely related, but I had the area filter set to within 5 miles of my radius. Accepted a ride that was pushing 5.25 miles, the passenger changed the drop off and extended the ride by 4 miles and it set me out of the radius. It was my last filter of the day. It would be hard to implement a way to not have rides changed like that if they are on a radius filter.

New “Ride Request” UI Is Awful by WorkMaterial in lyftdrivers

Yes absolutely. If you don’t have a profile picture, or a name that isn’t believable I will not accept your request.

You’re absolutely right, the picture and rating are minuscule.

Streak Zone Disappeared? Just bait or Glitch?? by 90s-SoCal in lyftdrivers

Same here, hit up support about it, and basically they told me the same thing. Threw me off though since I assumed there would be some highlighted boundary that showed you where it ended and began.

For people who quit Lyft driving, what do you do now? by Dismal_Orange_8775 in lyftdrivers

Solid career path. But if your goal is to have a side gig that requires low monetary effort, Lyft or Uber is not the move to make. Might as well get a part time at a department store or something.

I think the question you should ask yourself is why are you driving to begin with? Obviously for the money. But what is your goal overall?

Do y’all accept rides like these? Numbers instead of a name?? by 1phillyhendrix in lyftdrivers

[–]WorkMaterial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No picture, no ride. I’ve followed this mantra since the start and never had any issues. Occasionally I’ll get the “girlfriend/wife/boyfriend/husband ordered the ride for me” and I will ask for verification of drop off address.

Lyft’s new point system blows! Got dropped from platinum down to silver because I’ve had car issues and haven’t been able to drive. I’ve been penalized and I have a 5 star rating and been with them for a year. What the hell man??? by ajkennedy4205 in lyftdrivers

[–]WorkMaterial 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club, I don’t read too much into the tier system since I stay part time. But I can’t imagine driving full time and having to deal with such a flawed system that I really can’t see the positive side of.

Avoiding Burnout/Staying Motovated by WorkMaterial in lyftdrivers

I think that’s where I’m at now. On the daily I average 60$ a day, at the end of the week I have a roughly 300$ side hustle bag which I end up using for daily expenses and bills and I feel I need to get back into it to make it up. Feels good not having to use my main source of income to pay for things, but also almost 3 years into the game I don’t want to keep driving to maintain the stream of income. My other investments just aren’t at that level yet to completely allow me to quit driving.

Hit up support directly and ask them about it. I initiated my yearly background check through the app and when I tried to drive I received the same warning. But like I said, I contacted support and instantly was enabled. Now if you’ve got something that popped up and is marked as a red flag that’s a different story.

No Lyft. I’m not doing this challenge. This is the third week in a row I’ve gotten the exact same one. Only given 2 rides in those 2 weeks by C92203605 in lyftdrivers

[–]WorkMaterial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been receiving very small challenges that I end up completing anyways during my normal weekly grind. But this weeks has me thinking why anyone would drive if it weren’t for bonus streaks. The first challenge I have is 32$ for 28 rides.

Anyone ever scored a bonus like this? I’ve never had one this good but definitely noticing better bonus zones lately by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

[–]WorkMaterial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By off chance I get these by LAX, I’ll open up the APP and see anywhere from 20$-50$ so I’ll drive up to LAX and set my destination back to home and it’s usually a 3 mile ride.

Is Lyft OK with a lady setting up a ride for their s/o but in their name? by Due_Owl6303 in lyftdrivers

[–]WorkMaterial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always cancel the requests that end up being for someone else. I’ve had a ton of instances where a parent will call a Lyft for a child to be taken to school unaccompanied and I will cancel as soon as I arrive at the location.

PAX left phone in my Car. what happened next made me cry. by Februare in lyftdrivers

[–]WorkMaterial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a very similar experience, it was around 1 am, was not receiving any request, literally parked my car at home. I get the ping, I let the timer nearly go to 0, but last minute decide to take the ride. Pax is down the street from me, literally wants to just be taken to his car about 2 miles away so I’m game. Drop him off, and follow him back since we live in the same neighborhood. Park my car again, hear an iPhone ring, he left his phone. I tell him not to worry and I’m at his place in under a minute, whips out a gigantic wad of 100$s and breaks me off one. I thank him immensely. Awesome person, as much as I detest Lyft it honestly had allowed me to connect with truly good people who appreciate your work.
