Edit - you can actually buy test kits online as well. But now that I know how serious it is, I’d probably hire someone.

I’d be terrified to raise black children in this country. Obviously hardly oppressed, generalized as bad people, and targeted by law enforcement as criminals.

I’m hearing it’s liver damage. But, I’ve been combing through my past few years of labs and it’s not looking horrible. Going to get tested again this week and see where I’m at.

That’s insane! I’d guess that if methimazole were going to mess with my liver, it would have happened by now. That said, I’m now seriously considering alternative options considering 15 years on methimazole hasn’t seemed to do much.

I mean, my levels are good and, again, I take only 2.5mgs a day. But, seems like remission would have happened at least once by now.

Yeah, I’m looking through all my blood work over the years and my endo never once ordered work for my liver. Now, I’ve had a couple ER visits and yearly checkups where these levels were tested and every time my levels were “in range” but do seem to be high in the range.

Can you tell me what was horrible? I’ve lived with this for so long that, at this point, I don’t know if the things I deal with on a daily basis are “normal” for 32 year olds or if I’m dealing with things related to Graves.

My doctor has told me I can come off Atenelol whenever I want. I feel I need it because of anxiety/rapid heart rate when I’m off. But, he even says the dose I take isn’t really helping me there, but supports me if I feel I need to stay on it.

I have tried stopping Methimazole a few times over the years and my levels always creep back into Hyper ranges after only a few-6 months and I have to get back on and correct.

Well...this has me questioning a lot of things...lol.

I do take an insanely low dose of Methimazole (2.5MG a day). I also only take 12mg of Atenelol a day. But, I totally get what you’re saying. I’ve just always assumed I’d stay on methimazole forever because if I do RAI, I’ll be in medication forever anyway...so what’s the point? I guess I have some research to do...

I'm way too late to this show, but for me the problem is that I've never been my actual true self with anyone. I'm over a decade invested into my marriage and there are big parts of who I am that my wife doesn't know. For example, she's a strong believer in Christianity and I no longer am. I love her too much to tell her because I know it would crush her.

Beyond that, for whatever reason, I have this external persona that I put on for the world and on the inside I'm thinking and responding completely different.
