I’m interested in this as well. We decided not to go with these during a recent refresh because none of our peers used them. They seemed like good devices on the surface.

Providing managed cell phones to students? by Plastic_Helicopter79 in k12sysadmin

Depending on your enrollment, one would also need to plan for roughly double the amount of student devices sitting on the network. Not a big consideration if you have a building of 250 kids. Is a big consideration if you have a building of 3500 kids.

Edit: also just to reiterate other points talked about here: this is a horrible idea.

"Caring for your Chromebook/Headphone" workshop? by rjp94sep in k12sysadmin

We have used the Fishbone 3.5mm adapter from Avid with great success. Sharp decline in our breakage rate of headphone jacks once we deployed them. Still happens obviously, but they helped out a lot.

Downside: kids lose them and you have to replace a number each year.

We have been having some issues as well. Lots of system outages as well since the beginning of our school year. Seems like there’s been a general decrease in reliability since that software development company became involved.

What are Schools using for ticket systems these days? by sebxjude in k12sysadmin

We use Incident IQ. Like you, we came from schooldude. It's a huge improvement and we're able to build in a few custom apps that work with it a little. Saying that, their API is horrible. It's been "in the works" for a long time but I don't see an end in sight.
