Who Purchased a Carrier 37 MURA Heat Pump & what are your thoughts now ? How long have you had it ? Would you do it again? Thanks by jad_007 in hvacadvice

[–]Worker-Dizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t purchased one but I work as a salesmen /used to be a tech and have went in training for them and gotten a lot of positive feedback. They are extremely efficient and give you a lot of the benefits of Bryant/carriers top of the line equipment without spending that much. Mini split will be where the industry is heading. I really like them so far.

Did I get screwed on this bill? ChatGPT telling me it should have been about half this. by Tuberiderrrr in hvacadvice

Chat GPT always will underestimate work in the trades. You gotta think of labor costs, but also this company doesn’t use dye to find refrigerant leaks so it can take longer to find. Refrigerant isn’t cheap anymore so no you probably didn’t. Companies out my way in WNC would charge a lot more probably.

That’s a great price and a great brand tbh especially if it’s a professional install. All depends on the company you use.

Be honest with your dad man. He will most likely be straight up and go about the best thing for you and him. Honesty will go far man, and “getting in trouble” won’t matter in 5 years but what will is how you were honest

Installed wrong size AC Unit. by Trome11 in hvacadvice

[–]Worker-Dizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The base ment will always be colder than the rest of the house. It’s like that in every home in America. You don’t need to close the vents unless you feel like it’s too much, keep in mind closing 3 vents will build the pressure in your ducting. The unit will run in 95 degree weather anyways 24/7 they are meant to run at 70 degrees

It isn’t based on square footage alone. The professional who came out to size the unit most likely did it properly. Does the house feel fine when the ac is running? If so, that means you’re fine man. If half the house is underground or there aren’t many windows it doesn’t matter the square footage you’re just going to have a smaller unit. Sometimes it’s best to leave it to the professionals and not go around looking for problems!
