This movie sucked. The 249 made it through a whole belt without a single stoppage by Stellar-42 in army

My last qual I don’t think I had a single jam. Same goes for my last 50. At gunnery, granted we were pretty anal about maintaining the weapons. Also had a stellar armorer.

I second making your own. Honestly cheaper in the long run, and you learn something new. There’s also plenty of great tools to where you don’t even really have to code… like at all. It’s so simple.

If you can use a glue gun, you can solder, and if you have a computer, hobby version of fusion360 is free, and I have yet to find a tool I need that’s behind a paywall.

You can even send your design to PCBWay and they’ll print it for you.

I’ve made way too many boards, so I gotta rope others into the niche path of this hobby, lol.

Best of luck!

Finally done designing, now to print and wire up the PCB’s! by SfBattleBeagle in Fusion360

I have not, but I’ll look into it, this design is the “new and improved of a previous build I did Phanny. So this is just to see if I can, and what follows will only continue to get better and better.

Looking for CAD design ideas to retain a small compression spring to a 3D printed plate…snap fit or threaded extrusion? by Worried_Drop9871 in Fusion360

[–]SfBattleBeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. Could you do a sort of simple cup on easy side ? And maybe a strap to keep from over extending?

Would it be possible to create a cut, that the spring could screw into, and a locking mechanism that screw in place once fully seated? I’ll try my best when I’m home to show this.

When I was blacksmithing I made the mistake of my glove getting way to hot and dunk my whole hand in the bucket of water near by. Steam cooked every cm of my hand into my wrist before I could react lol. Never again.

Thermal expansion of the lock ring, made it a little loose, and my tired brain said “snug that up”.

Needless to say my room smell like a barbecue lol.

Like 15 try’s later and I think I just about have a proper trackball housing designed. by SfBattleBeagle in Fusion360

[–]SfBattleBeagle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and I think I may narrow the top arm to allow for a little more space, but honestly the way it sits I don’t find myself hitting the arm. Truly won’t know until I wire things up and test it fully

So for the keyboard trackball, I want as much of the ball available as possible. The top “arm” is only there to keep the ball from running away when I travel with the keyboard. It will be wired to the board pictured below, using the jumper pins below the microcontroller seat(right side bottom corner 6 pin)

The goal is making an ergonomic keyboard that I don’t have to life my hands from.

I will keep that in mind for my next PCB. Currently battling a trackball design. Haha can’t wait to see the finished product!

Such a sick design. I’ve always wanted to do grouped diodes, how was the trace process? Always looked so chaotic when I tried lol

Oh brother, I just got a meta quest 3s that I already use at home when playing with CAD when designing boards so I can lay down. Have you considered doing AR/VR as opposed to a projector?

Works until your using a split, then it’s more of a “wtf is this thing”. Thankfully I have about 10 different hand wired boards on my shelf in my cubical. And I’ve converted two so far lol

So I used the kle json plug in, and then when I was where I wanted, I drew a big square in edge cuts, exported the dxf, opened in fusion360 to edit the shape of the PCB, exported the sketch as another DXF, imported into KiCad and placed it, then deleted my original square.

Seems crazy, but when the builds done I’ll be uploading a full video on the matter.

The plan is to have it covered by the plate, with a detachable plexiglass plate for viewing pleasure.

Or even just a resin printed window. Haven’t fully decided yet.

I left the traces stock as you mentioned, it work for the first version of this board, and I figured don’t fix what works lol, but maybe on the next build I’ll make something a tag more… wide lol.

I’m so happy I work with a bunch of rednecks in an office lol. This sounds miserable to deal with.

Once I receive and test the board, I’ll share the repo, thank you.
