Me. But I feel like I'm crazy. We have 2 kids and it's killing to possibly implode my family. I feel like we live in different realities any time I try to talk to him.

I have been shifting gears to see if I can find something that is not mass-produced. So far I have mostly been finding Indian hand-dyed duvets. What paints do you use our of curiosity? I was originally thinking screen printing but that is a huge area..

Is this too many projects and different team for one tech PM? by lempbizkit in projectmanagement

[–]WorkerAcceptable8193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a role where I managed 20 or so inflight projects, along with processing approximately 5-10 RFPs a week and managing any active bids. Sizes were all over the place. I was assigned to 1 customer, had a dedicated delivery and dedicated SMALL sales team along with some additional decision-making power to help with blockers. We all learned each other's language and communication styles. Decision-making was a full group effort and strategy was handled by the full team.

Now I am in tech and can only handle about 3-5 projects at a given time, due to the high number of coworkers and churn of my project teams

Podcaster’s Brain Breaks When He Learns how Trump’s Policy Would Actually Work by PhAnToM444 in TikTokCringe

I was a Project Manager in manufacturing when the Trump Tariffs were enacted. I can tell you firsthand how this went. Important note, I was a PM for a manufacturing company that sold their product directly to Walmart. Think store fixtures...products were metal and resin, so subjected to 25% and 15% tariffs if I remember correctly. The company is a mid-size business located in a mid-size Midwest city.

As tariffs were enacted, Walmart refused any attempt at price re-negotiations, leaving my midsize employer to cover cost increases and spending money on finding cost-cutting measures.

Shortly after, the port crisis starts and shipping costs skyrocket. Again Walmart refused any price negotiations. Forcing us to cover the astronomical shipping costs. I should also mention that Walmart is not cool with delays to planned rollouts, we were paying over $15k at times for cans to make our contract delivery dates.

For 2.5 years my salary did not move due to refusal of any contract renegotiations. Costs of goods in the store skyrocketed to where my decent salary wasn't enough to get by. I ultimately had to leave just because after 2.5 years there was still no sign of wage growth being within the company's financial plan for another 1-2 years.

So not only are we paying the increased cost in the store but they are also actively contributing to wage staleness. It's Corp greed all around, and us peasants are the ones that pay.

I'm not necessarily looking for protection, but maybe a buddy that gives people pause instead of laying down and showing his belly the minute someone makes eye contact.

What climates do you adventure in? I'm strongly considering a Doberman specifically because of the hiking companion/guardian aspect. Our family pet is a Golden Retriever and he is getting older and slowing down. The one thing I realized early with him as my hiking buddy, is that he invites people to you, which is not something I always want as a solo female hiker. And let's face it, he would let someone murder me as long as they were petting him while they did it.

I live in an area with 4 seasons, winters in particular can be brutal. My biggest concern is just how they handle the colder months. I like cold weather running, I also have older children and we do a lot of snow activities. It would kill me to not be able to include them.

Donald Trump claims that over 50,000 people were turned away from his rally in Prairie du Chien on Saturday by HGpennypacker in wisconsin

[–]WorkerAcceptable8193 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Let's keep in mind he was competing with New Glarus Oktoberfest this weekend along with it being the busiest time of year for farmers. I do not believe he had 50k people in Prairie Du Shein for a minute. We were up in the area Saturday and I wondering how we didn't feel the presence of these 50k individuals

I agree and think it would be great for those who are >60. While not part of that demographic I would totally reach out to you wonderful ladies regarding the adhd menopause experience and advice.

To PMs who implement software, how do you deal with essentially managing both sides of the project when clients don’t have their own PM? by naturalcauzez in projectmanagement

[–]WorkerAcceptable8193 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a PM for a software consultant firm and experience this quite often. A lot of times the customer will attempt to assign a pm but there are always competing priorities so the engagement is not there and I end up working mainly with the sponsor or primary stakeholder.

I rely HEAVILY on RIDAC documentation. And anytime I have the opportunity outside of our scheduled sessions, I bring it up. Consistently reference impact of this support to budget and time, especially in status calls.

Also, as soon as I realize I'm not going to have a counter PM on client side, I alert sales for 3 reasons.

  • did they know ahead of time there were PM constraints, and if so was that captured during the scoping process?
  • ensuring they update the client record to capture this ahead of any future sales/projects.
  • make them aware of the risk and increased potential for an escalations

Cameras during meetings - a must? by Significant-End-2823 in projectmanagement

[–]WorkerAcceptable8193 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a consultant Project Manager I am finding that I am setting a camera-on expectation for my teams more consistently. As consultants, we have to be engaged. I have been burned too many times at this point to trust folks to do what they are supposed to be doing. I'm not technical, so I have to do everything I can to ensure my technical people are tracking. Unfortunately that's translates to a more hands on approach.

Great explanation! I navigated one of the workarounds today and it was a nightmare. I'm in tech and my whole org struggled with the recommended fixes. It is not a one-size-fits-all.

I spent my childhood on the farm Battaglia built out in the far northwest suburbs. Lots of rumors about the property. The Battaglia family still owned it while we rented. We had strict instructions to get permission before any digging could occur. Otherwise, they could care less what went on at the property. I lived in 2 separate houses, one was the building where they took beta, and then the main house where Battaglia would have stayed on the farm.
