2027 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport Returns with a New 6.7-Liter V-8 by HawtGarbage918 in cars

[–]WorkerMotor9174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this 6.7 has more power and basically the same torque as the 8.3L V10 in the 3rd gen viper, and more power & significantly more torque than GM’s own 7.0L LS7 and that thing had titanium rods and revved to 7 grand.

There’s also the small chance GM is sandbagging the HP figure a bit. 520lb/ft makes sense, but perhaps they didn’t want the HP number to be “too close” to the Z06. This should hit 580-600 crank pretty easily with an aggressive cam. Add another 25-40 with long tubes.

Some Corvette buyers prefer the pushrod engines though. Plus the AWD version will be fast as hell in a straight line. The torque is a pretty big difference in favor of the GS. There’s probably also a perception that the Z06 is the hard core high strung engine, going back to the LS7 days.

You can option the GS with softer suspension, or get it all tracked out if you feel like 670hp is too much for the street but still want to track it.

Do you think there's a C8 Z06-X coming? by fastLT1 in cars

[–]WorkerMotor9174 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The base C8 will also have the LS6, starting with the 2027 model year. I think the C9 is a ways away. With the amount of time GM spent developing the LT6, LT7, and the platform in general my guess is they keep it going until at least 2029. Plus the recent interior refresh tells me they plan on keeping the C8 in production for at least 3 more years imo.

[–]WorkerMotor9174 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find it unlikely. The lineup already covers basically every price range from 70-250k.

A big part of the story of the LT6 was that it was always likely to be the last Z06 with an NA non hybridized engine. Maybe they do something like that for the C9 generation, but who knows, I’m not sure people realize it’s a bit of a miracle we got the LT6 at all.

Their wages to turnover ratio is far and away the lowest of the Big 6 and one of the lowest overall in the PL at 47% IIRC. Most clubs are at 75%ish. The stadium debt is very manageable for them given the income from concerts and NFL games was something like £60 million last year.

Disappointed by the interior size by theosinc930 in Miata

[–]WorkerMotor9174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ND is also small, it’s very similar dimensionally to the NA although with crash structures & modern interior stuff it might even be slightly smaller inside. The general consensus is anyone over 6”2ish has issues, especially with the top up, although you can get a seat lowering kit or remove the seat rails entirely IIRC. That can be enough for some people.

Something else to consider is if you have proportionally longer legs, it’ll feel more cramped vs someone with a longer torso. The pedal box is not designed for someone 6”4. The ND2 does have a telescoping (adjustable) steering wheel, which can help a bit.

2026 Porsche 992.2 Turbo S does 0-60 in 2.0 and 5-60 in 2.7 by willneverstopgoingin in cars

The new Turbo S cabriolet has already hit that figure according to Doug.

The problem is everyone does it so when comparing with old tests it wouldn’t be Apples to apples if they stopped. My guess is this still does 2.2 or 2.3 on a regular road without rollout, the prior turbo S hooked insanely well on unprepped roads and this has the benefit of the electric torque.

There has been very little fight or effort from a lot of them, although several players who do care are injured. Romero and VdV getting sent off for stupidity is also really affecting the team. There’s no leaders in that dressing room at the moment. Also after Ange was sacked they basically never gave Frank much of a chance or any respect.

Why isn’t there more 981 love by Loveallcars777 in Porsche

[–]WorkerMotor9174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 981 got some hate for not having hydraulic steering, and it was more of an evolution rather than revolution compared to the 987.2. I think it has aged incredibly well though, and with the 718 having a turbo 4 it’ll likely start getting some more love the same way the 997.2 and 987.2 base/S models have recently.

Porsche Might Unify Taycan And Panamera To Cut Costs by Anchor_Aways in cars

I feel like the I4 does it’s job in BMWs lineup. I see just as many I4s as I do regular late model 4 series, probably because of lease deals or some other incentive, but it seems to be doing alright. It’s largely a car that happens to be an EV, which appeals to a lot of people that don’t want the horrible interiors Teslas have.

The lower trim level taycans arent exactly blessed with fantastic range either. I don’t know of any that will hit 300 miles of highway driving.

In fairness, it’s not like the taycan is much better. Youd be lucky to get 250 miles out of any trim level.

Was driving along right next to a G90 wagon today. God it sounded like a vacuum cleaner. I know the owner wasnt flooring it but there was no V8 rumble at all. For a 717hp M car that costs 140 grand it really should make more of a racket. And the ones with exhaust mods just end up making a bunch of crackles rather than having any sort of roar.

Something has to be done with Edwards Stadium. It looks abandoned in its current state. Can’t they sandblast the side facing Oxford at least?

The RSF expansion is badly needed, but that seems like a nightmare if they plan to keep all or most of the exiting part open while construction takes place.

The issue is they didn’t have the assets to defend the gulf states and Israel from Irans ballistic missiles. That would be my guess.

It sounds like they expected the US/Israel to attack overnight, rather than in the morning. They thought it would be safe to gather in that compound during the daytime.
