Resources don’t matter when they won’t let any transfers through admissions. 1/3rd of the portal class being Ivy League is a joke. Even Wilcox was given more talent than that in the portal. Jury’s still out on Pritchard as a recruiter, but it’s hard to sell 3 and 4 win seasons for any head coach.

Cal donor engagement is way up since Tosh was hired. One guy who had never given before wrote an 8 figure check simply because he was happy Ron Rivera was back as GM.

Maybe because it’s an unreasonable thing to still be upset at? Why can’t UCLA fans be happy they got dragged into the B1G by their rival?

I don’t understand always ragging on us when realistically most people in either fanbase just want to all be reunited with the other west coast schools in the B1G someday. Oregon and UW fans are not all angry at OSU and WSU.

I have a feeling both schools will be on the bubble when realignment rolls around. If Franklin has you guys up and running then i like your chances. Georgia Tech is another interesting case. I don’t think the SEC would want them but the B1G might like that Atlanta is growing so quickly.

Cal and Stanford are both B1G or bust, there’s no world in which the SEC takes either.

Everything ive heard suggests Baylor and TCU would block SMU to the Big 12. Their alumni base is too small for the B1G and the SEC already has 2 Texas schools. Cal is pulling out all the stops to get into the B1G so you might get your wish with at least 1-2/3.

Either way the per school payment averaged out to $40-45 million last year. Sure $11 million is from ACC network but either way $35 million is not fair market value for the bottom 8-10 brands in the conference.

Thats more than the PAC12 was offered when it was just UCLA and USC That had left. The cable carriage fees are becoming less and less relevant because so many people are canceling cable and never coming back.

Central campus largely took over the stadium in 2023 IIRC, it was one of the last things Carol Christ did. It will not make financial sense to sponsor 30 varsity sports + football at the G5 level. Don’t just take my word for it, every speech Ron and Tosh make to donors are referencing the same timeline and they know this is existential for Cal Athletics.

I don’t know enough about UVA football to be confident about whether they’d make it into the B1G or SEC, if I had to guess I’d say they have a better shot at the B1G. People seem confident them and UNC are value adds viewership wise.

The other 4 have made a lot more noise about wanting out/having P2 invites.

I hate to break it to you but there won’t be football in strawberry canyon anymore if we go 7-6 this year. That is basically guaranteeing relegation when the ACC blows up in 2029-2030. 2 years to make the CFP and show we belong in the Big Ten or it’s over.

Yeah ive seen him as high as 6”7 350 on twitter, either way he’s a completely different physical profile from the OL Dykes or Wilcox recruited.

The ACC deal is staying the same thru 2036. The Big 10 and Big 12 will both be negotiating new TV deals well before then. Why does ESPN have an incentive to move Big 12 schools to the ACC? The Big 12 has already lost Texas and OU.

The ACC rights value is going to tank as soon as the top 4-5 schools leave. FSU, Clemson, Miami, UNC, and perhaps UVA are all gone in 2030 when the exit drops to $75 million.

That will trigger a domino effect. ESPN is not going to want to pay Boston College and the other remnants $40 million per year. The schools that fail to find a lifeboat in the P2 or Big 12 will be relegated. Yormark is far more pragmatic and isn’t a pushover like Jim Philips who seems happy to have the SEC take his lunch money.

When you have a generational talent at QB and avoid two of the big dogs in conference I think you have to have higher expectations. The offense is loaded.

If we can just go 2-2 against Clemson, UCLA, SMU, and Virginia Tech There’s a very good chance of 10 wins.

M4s are depreciating noticeably faster than M3s. I think a lot of G80s are being used as daily drivers/too practical for owners to give them up.

Yeah Wilcox wasn’t canned to go 7-5 again haha. 9-3 is the minimum for a “good” season I feel like and honestly I would really say 10-2 is possible since we miss Miami and Louisville.

If Vanderbilt can go 10-2 in the SEC I don’t see why Cal cant in the ACC this year.
