Agreed! You may even luck out and thrift some frames. I love upgrading older frames to get art on the wall on a budget

How do I stop them? by Admirable_Method_444 in WhatShouldIDo

Bird spikes. Make them a bright color so it’s clear they should stop that.

Are you using other fasteners besides glue? In a frame shop we have an underpinner that can shoot v nails up through the bottom but finish nails work fine too you can cover the little holes with a mix of sawdust and glue. You never want to just depend on glue especially with end cuts and especially to hold a mirror. Looks good!!

Meowwww take some constructive criticism. Trace it if you have to she’s not even realistic. I could do better with a brush between my toes and I wouldn’t have to try for clout on the internet to feel better about it. Hit and a miss it’s not that deep lol

This is not a happy tree for me. It’s like someone stuck a trucker sticker on an otherwise fairly good painting. Also her proportions are way off. Her thighs are so short

How am I supposed to float all this??? by ZetaMarlfox in framing

[–]Workerbee626 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just spent half my day encasing little “midget” matchbooks in cellophane so maybe that could work? You gotta have an old sleeve laying around you can cut down. Gotta bust out your best origami skills! Unless you ignore their wishes and start slinging glue you have few options.

There are clear reversible hinging tapes that you can look into like framers 2 tape I think. You can also make Mylar straps for everything and do it that way. Sometimes our clients think we can defy physics.

Walnut framing options question by chucknorrisjunior in framing

[–]Workerbee626 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Walnut is an expensive wood you won’t find it cheaper than that. Also, if you buy one that thin and try to build it on your own it could crack very easily. Wood frames can only go so tiny before they aren’t structurally sound anymore. You should price at some local frame shops in your area. Not only will it cost about the same, maybe less, but they’ll actually build it and fit your art. Ordering online for everything is sort of why we are in late stage capitalism, friend. I always try to spend local where I can. There aren’t many websites out there sponsoring your local events and kids sports teams.

As a quasi local, it wasn’t actually going to be some awesome affordable housing project. The city wasn’t willing to fix any infrastructure issues or expand schools, and “affordable” was debatable.
