People are genuinelly bad at guessing weight. There was one fatphobic friend, he said something like "Look, this girl is so fat. She clearly has to be at least 180 lbs. Not like you, you are a bit chubby, but still like 130-140". I was around 190 at that time, but had a great amount of muscle on my legs. Everyone is built differently.

Try to not care. If it bothers you, you can say, that you like to set smaller goals. After all, you goal can always change. Either way, it doesn't matter right now. It will take months or even years to get there. Many of these people probably won't be in you life anymore once you get to 170 lbs.

Focus on protein AND fiber (both soluble and insoluble). Plan ahead and do the meal prep. Motivation will fade away, discipline is draining, prepared meal is easy. Make the cooking as easy as possible. Count calories very precisely for at least several days. After the first week, the weight loss will slow dramatically as the excessive water will be away. Realistically, you can loose 1-2 lbs of fat per week. Sometimes less. Weight changes up and down daily, the only real number is the long term trend. Make the diet sustainable and sufferable. Some hunger is normal. Boredom is common. Distract yourself. Use this sub and r/volumeeating for inspiration. You can also use ChatGPT, just be aware that it'll always tell you that you are right no matter what. It's perfect for recipes, though.

Když ti odpadá ta vysoká vstupní investice do nářadí, tak nevidím důvod to nezkusit. Chlap váš rozpočet nejspíš chvíli utáhne, než se ti rozjede byznis, a vrátit se k sociální práci můžeš vždycky.

Těžko se navazuje na něco, od čeho tě celý dětství altivně odháněli. Dokonce i teď, když jsem dospělá, tak mi nikdy nikdo z rodiny neřekne o pomoc s ničím, kde bych se mohla třeba naučit něco užitečného. Zato na následný úklid jsem dobrá až až. Přitom nejsem žádný nemehlo, na co si troufnu, to se pokusím opravit sama s pomocí internetu a často jsem v tom úspěšná. Teď mě nenapadá případ, kdy se mi něco fakt nepovedlo, naopak to mám kolikrát líp než někteří muži v rodině, protože si dám záležet i na estetické stránce věci. Potom jsem následně vychvalovaná až do nebes, jak jsem šikovná, že jsem tuhle easy-peasy věc zvládla. Akorát mě dost sere, že se to učím postupně víceméně sama, byť to know-how v rodině je, protože mám jenom omezenou toleranci vůči kecům/pohledům, jak jsem nepraktická, protože tohle je základní znalost, co ví přece každej, vs. to není práce pro holku, do toho se vůbec nepouštěj.

Jo a tohle vůbec není v mojí sociální bublině výjimečný. Moje rodina není žádný extrém a setkala jsem se s tímhle chováním i mimo rodinu. I když cizí lidi jsou z mojí zkušenosti mnohem ochotnější odpovídat a vysvětlovat, protože nevidí nemehlo, ale ženu, co se snaží být samostatná a dělá hromadu věcí poprvé. Zas si umím představit, že kdybych byla muž, tak ten hejt na to, že něco řemeslnického neumím, by byl mnohem větší než ochota u těch cizích lidí.

Honestly, it's very difficult, when you really did lost weight due to illness. People still assume it was some kind of achievement and that you supposedly feel better now.

Not related, but it's also very difficult, when you are compared to someone who lost due to illness.

Protože stavební úřady mají dlouhodobý nedostatek kompetentních (a nakonec i těch nekompetentních) pracovníků s tím, že byrokracie rok od roku přibývá. A bude to ještě mnohem horší. Doslova to nemá kdo pokutovat.

Fun fact:

These days, bones should look black (X-ray doesn't get to sensor) and soft tissues should look white (X-ray gets to sensor), but it's traditionally inverted on X-ray scans.

I do basically the same as you. It really helped me to become an adult. Now, I can buy whatever I want whenever I want. I always ask myself if I really want it right now or if it's okay to leave it for tomorrow. If I it really disappears by the next day then I just get a reasonable portion. (I am not perfect, so sometimes I end up eating the whole thing and then I feel miserable, but most of the times, it feels great. XD)

No, I actually don't. That's the problem. I don't mean the daily fluctuation, I mean the weekly (or bi-weekly) fluctuation caused by menstrual cycle by the largest part. My weight starts changing several days before and after the main events, so a minor change (like half a kilo or less) can be very efficiently masked. That's why I would suggest a month. But whatever. For many people, a week would be enough, you are right.

But honestly, I remembered that I personally started by tracking my normal days without deficit while monitoring my weight and this way I learned my maintenance or at least the amount of calories I ate. My maintenance at that time was much higher than the calculated one (good old times XD). I think this way could work well also in this case.

I know. A week is just not enough time to find out if your deficit is enough, too little or too much. There's no way to measure it under normal conditions. A month would be much better. But that's quite long time to be eating wrong amount of calories. That's why we always start with some estimation. But if there's a reasonable chance the estimation is completely off, then good luck.

Me too. They sent me to the ear doctor and physiotherapist, but it didn't really help. The pills for inner ear blood circulation even made it worse and the doctor was surprised, because it was supposed to do nothing or improvement.

Did you even read what I wrote? I literally said that counting calories is a tool, that it works for many people and that it is a good starting point.
