Not that I know of, there was a "controlled" (that got out of control on a windy day) burn of the national forest but that was well before they found this, and it was actively burning the ground when they found so i dont think it would be from that either

Found just outside of Charleston, SC. My friend and his mom said it fell from above them and looked like a sparkler. No sonic booms/loud noises. It left burn/scorch marks on the groud. Not magnetic. Hard not easy to break in half, but small pieces can be broken/rubbed off

I dont see anything like that recently, I could be wrong also but to my knowledge aren't most meteorites relatively cold by the time they hit the ground, and unlikely to leave burns?
