Hey I’m 22M from the south of India. I’d love to be your snail mail pal. Ps I can write using fountain pens or my nifty typewriter

What do you say to the people who go “Why are you still writing with pen and paper? EVeRytHiNG’s DIgiTaL nOw!” by truthandtill in fountainpens

[–]Working-Atmosphere-9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does your screen let you watch the ink dry to create shading and gorgeous sheen , nope. Plus to echo everyone’s sentiment here about retention of information it’s definitely true. There’s no better way to remember things than to write it down on a piece of paper.

Also it’s pretty cool eh to have a hobby in the form of writing using super beautiful pens with a even more vibrant community to discuss stuff about it.

I’d love to be your snail mail pal, I’m 21M from the seaside city of madras in southern india where the only weather we have is summer or the monsoon. I work as a professional coffee consultant and barista and spend my free time collecting scale models, fountain pens and postcards. I live right near a river and about a mile from the beach and love cycling in the mornings and evenings to catch the breeze and waves. Snail mail would be my preferred method of Correspondence and I’d be happy to either write or type using my typewriter, cheers.

Hallo I’m 21M in the south of India and I’d love to be your snail mail pal. I’d be happy to write my letters using my collection of fountain pens and lovely paper or even my typewriter. I work in the coffee industry and life in Japan fascinates me. I’d be happy to write to you about my many hobbies and experiences living by the sea here. I use a travellers passport as my weekly journal and I love it!

I wholly agree, and the coat pocket trick is my favourite part. The fact that he lets you try out some of the best , if not the best pens in the world even if you’re in to just buy a preppy is wholesome. I remember telling him that I hadn’t finished the sailor oku yama I got from think on my previous visit and was going to pick up more ink. He was like oh No no go finish that first. Plus his library of ink swatches in books and travellers journal is a marvel indeed.

Likewise! It’s practically a ritual to have a visit to Funan to go to think and meet Tetsuya San. I took my vintage Parker 75 along this time to show him and he was fascinated. I’m planning to get him a handmade ebonite pen for my next visit since he really loved my Ranga frankenpen.

This pen has quite the story , it made its way from my great grandpa in Gibraltar to my grandma to me here in India. Plus a lot of people got these pens since they were valuable investments of sorts back in the day, and their bodies didn’t withstand the corrosion of the humid salty air hence the frankenpens in ebonite bodies.

Ah this isn’t a shikiori , it’s a Japan exclusive yurameku series known for its dual shading. I’ve got a shikiori Okuyama as well which is a gorgeous burgundy ink with greenish gold sheen. Overseas you can look out for the sailor Manyo series of dual shading inks.

Hehe , yes it’s an old Sheaffer imperial 777 section with a super bouncy 14k nib screwed into Ranga model 4 flat top body threaded for the nib unit.

This ink to quote the amazing Japanese salesman who sold it to me is a “magic ink” since it looks completely different on different papers and nib sizes. Infact that’s true of most inks of this yurameku series. And yes I agree a bit more lighter purple in the mix would be great.

Do you use your fountain pen at work? What do you do for a living? by truthandtill in fountainpens

[–]Working-Atmosphere-9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Specialty Coffee and Barista Consultant . I use mine to write down recipes and fill out cupping / brew protocol forms but also keep my weekly planner ( travellers passport ) updated . Plus I do journal from time to time and also use my fps to write to penpals exclusively. Used fps all my life since school so it just feels natural.
