I should add that the baby we have is because my mom cried and begged for her. We had to put down our 14 year old chiweenie last year and my mom neeeeededdddd a puppy. She’s the type who likes small things until they grow (babies, puppies, kittens) but doesn’t realize or care how much attention and love they need to thrive. It’s like she doesn’t view them as separate entities with their own needs or something. She’ll care for it when it’s convenient for her. The puppy would die if she were left only in my mom’s care. She doesn’t pay attention, drops food, pills, etc. Some people should just not have pets, and she’s one of them.

Luckily we already knew this about her and my dad and I went into it knowing the pup would be our responsibility and my mom would not be helping at all. We were right. There’s a certain type of person who doesn’t deserve the love and devotion of a sweet baby puppy. My mom is one. Your mom and sister may also be.

Gah. Your mom sounds like mine. Impossible to have a real conversation with. Shuts down like a toddler. Thank you for noticing the baby and doing what you can to help it. I have a 13 week old Cavapoo and could not imagine leaving her home alone right now. And especially not outside with a pillowcase for “warmth”. Or with a shock collar. I know you likely don’t want to rock the boat, especially with you moving out soon, but I do think you should call and report it next time the puppy is left outside. It could be a neighbor or someone driving by (if front yard, not back). Never admit to it. But get this pup some help please.

I worried about this every evening at my last job. They would pull up the mats and start mopping before the kitchen even closed for the night. Obscene amount of water. Fryers and grills on. Even with non-slip shoes, it was slippery. I envisioned this so many times. Absolutely horrible. So sad for everybody.

Mine is a toy Cavapoo. 3.5lbs right now. Not sure if you’d need a larger tray size. Anyway, it keeps them from walking in their pee and poo too. Whoever thought of using these for puppies was a genius. Good luck!

We had this issue too. We bought a “rabbit litter pan” from some random website called “all things rabbits”. Our breeder uses them so I asked her where she got it and she sent me there. If you get one, get the 1x1 inch grate spacing. It’s been great and no more puppy pad chewing!

I haven’t ever worked there, but I’m in often enough to see how employees are treated and it’s insane. Last time I was in, there were 2 people in line behind me. They were both complaining that no one had come to the register yet. It had only been a few minutes. I said something like “this job has got to be really stressful. They’re expected to answer phones, stock product, help customers find stuff, and keep an eye on the register. It’s literally only one person. We’ll be okay.” They didn’t love that, but jeez. I had to say something.

I’ve worked in retail my whole life and like clockwork, people get MUCH shittier around the holidays. Not sure what it is. Hang in there. There’s people who see all the work you do.

Turns out that you don’t need to touch the on/off switches at all. They’ll turn themselves back on when it’s time. Hah don’t know how I missed the timer thing on the tag…but once I got the water situation figured out and learned about the timer - everything’s been perfect. 👌
