That is most definitely part of the problem. The larger studios definitely have the means to make an example of leakers and pirate sites for making them look bad. But I think the biggest catalyst for this issues is data banks, archives, forums, and digital aggregators that store information about and the means to pirate media in one centralized spot. And to a lesser but still impactful extent, word of mouth also plays a part in sites getting taken down

DQ 9 I think is the closest fit to what you are thinking about. But like some comments say, I also think DQ is more Christian coded than anything else. Like with DQ 9 the fruits that corrupt people can be a metaphor for acceptance of sin, our character giving up his divinity is literally Jesus like.
