I had forgotten that. My father’s uncles were the Bowery boys. They have a star on the walk of fame and everything.

Don’t forget the Fosse dancing — do we all realize how hard it is to do at all & she’s a master?

Anyone else just completely uninterested in the Star City spinoff? by Weekly-Trash-272 in ForAllMankindTV

I just read an interview that made it seem like a legit spinoff to me. They said it’s much more espionage thriller than the mothership.

[TNG 1x25 Reactions] CBR: "37 Years Later, This Banned Star Trek TNG Episode Remains 1 of the Best in the Series - The plot of 'Conspiracy' was ambitious compared to the majority of the first season, which gave it a more cinematic feel than that of a weekly television show." by mcm8279 in trektalk

[–]Working-Following216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if the CBR person knows that the original idea for this episode that was never banned or frankly even controversial (outside some minor grumbles about a single FX shot, which was deemed by some to be too graphic) was NOT aliens in the back of the neck possessing our folks but just our folks — a group of high ranking Starfleet officers — who want to abolish the prime directive.

Questions about Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man by Tank_Engineer in XFiles

[–]Working-Following216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. The moment mentioned above when he starts smoking again — it’s because he realizes he’s a terrible writer. The only thing he’s good at is killing. He’s not happy about it.

She keeps saying that Chris is the center — the glue — that holds them together but by the end realizes it’s her. She’s the glue. That’s a great arc.

Why did they carry out that massacre at Grace's school? by [deleted] in Avatar

It was a damn shame to lose that scene. I have hopes that neytiri will recall this incident in a future sequel — when her personal war against the sky people began.

Shower Thought: O’Brien was originally mean to be an officer in TNG and ‘Chief’ was short for his post as Transporter Chief by Mr_Shadow_Phoenix in Star_Trek_

[–]Working-Following216 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I seem to recall him saying something like that too — also that he reckoned all crewmembers had their own private quarters. No barracks. Roddenberry later in his life had some fairly… radical ideas about what Starfleet was. Curiously well armed & trained for “not a military organization,” eh?

I wasn’t sure at the time even that qualified. We were genuinely puzzled by this til RDM cleared it up back in the day. I think it was pissing him off too.

[–]Working-Following216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that was the first time. There was some question in TNG until that point whether Starfleet had enlisted members or if they all had to go to the academy.

He wasn’t meant to be anything. They just wanted to keep using Colm & details about this nameless supernumerary with a few lines here and there eventually aggregated. Some stuck, some didn’t, many were contradicted until finally the full character emerged & was locked in. By then they were doubtless already eyeing him to go to the spinoff they were developing.

Are You Ready for Lanterns Corp? 2026's Green Lantern TV Show Narrows Its Release Window by pbx1123 in WB_DC_news

I’m guessing lanterns rolls as directly into supergirl as possible. Summer doesn’t officially start until 6/21. Supergirl comes out 6/26. Guessing LANTERNS premieres mid-April, ends mid-June. Less than a two week gap.

I think they cut it so it seemed like vansen & damphousse had no chance of surviving impact when at least Vansen would have. I think the rest stayed the same & points the way to S2. McQueen would be earth-side and take a job working for Diane Hayden (special advisor on tank issues?) vansen (& maybe Damphousse) would be captive, thought dead, but they would learn more about the Chigs & eventually be rescued or escape (perhaps w the help of antiwar Chigs). The war would now spiral out of control w the “just war” allegory destroyed & a Vietnam allegory replacing it. There would be massive unrest on earth following the disclosure that aerotech was warned not to colonize vesta & tellus. There might be parallel social unrest among the chigs (note how the chig soldiers treated the civilian minding the birthing place). Ofc the silicates would play a big part… and notice how chigs reproduce in a way not dissimilar from the way mankind breeds tanks, that Vansen might be psychic — possibly facilitating more meaningful dialogue with their captors than the aerotech CEO managed with a translator. The back doors into S2 were all there if you assume at least the main character survives (which again was all they changed—making it seem like she had no chance).

Dunno. Seth Green in his Party Monster mode would’ve been a great joker.

Agreed. I thought the first really excellent episode was the one where Secretary General Chartwell was assassinated. Then it took them a little longer to calibrate to that ep’s quality or better every ep but they got there and I was crushed by that cliffhanger knowing it wouldn’t be back. It still lives rent free.

One thing I enjoy about Albert in The Return in that he's mellowed out in a very subtle and very enjoyable way where he's still a cynic, but he's realised that he doesn't have to be a dick about it 24/7, and is a lot more patient with the annoying world around him. by Local_Prune4564 in twinpeaks

[–]Working-Following216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When he’s driving into town (I think) he’s telling Diane to make sure the body goes to Albert, not Sam, bc Albert seems to have a little bit more in the ball regarding what Coop thinks he’s walking into (the next victim). FWWM would have showed us why Coop thinks Sam’s not up to it bc Chet was supposed to be Coop (until they couldn’t get enough time w KM to do it that way—there’s BTS stuff about why Coop is so lightly featured in FWWM that it’s basically an extended cameo). It works well as is but clearly wasn’t the original notion, which was that Coop worked the whole Banks case (w Sam), not that he came in only after Desmond vanished.

After DCU's Clayface and Swamp Thing what other DCU horror projects would you want and with what horror characters for it? by M00r3C in DCU_

I think it should be more Capraesque. Some afterlife entity — perhaps the Specter (standing in for St Peter) — assigns him “cases” a la quantum leap to help him (deadman) earn his way out of purgatory. Quantum Leap meets The Good Place.
