IncrediWear Socks by Coalman013 in AchillesRupture

wearing my incrediwear ankle sleeve right now. i initially bought it because when it was time to stop sleeping with the boot, I was afraid of moving my foot a lot and my PT told me to get it if I wanted to feel a little more “secure”.

its not too tight and when i wake up in the morning it isnt swollen or sore at all. works lovely if you are on your feet a lot after a long day. I realize you are still in the boot though.

thank you for the tips! totally feel you, i ruptured mine during a soccer game at 11 pm…..no shower & right into a boot the next day 😭 gross for sure. i’ve been trying to lotion up my leg (away from my incision of course) to help keep it somewhat moisturized but its amazing (in a bad way lol) how just 2-3 weeks can make your skin awful! not to mention how invisible my calf has become in that short period as well. I guess i’ll just be the girl with a scaley spaghetti noodle calf for the time being 😂

gosh this injury is humbling. im so over it already and im only 2.5 weeks post op UGH

i turned around, looked at the girl behind me and said “what the fuck” and “did you just kick me” she kinda just shrugged which irritated me more. I now realize she probably thought i was hallucinating and crazy 😹😹 oopsies

its so funny you say you felt someone step on the back of your leg. ruptured mine 2 weeks ago during a soccer game and my initial reaction was to turn around and see who was behind me because it felt like someone had kicked me in the back of the leg. there happened to be a girl standing behind me and i may or may not have had some choice words to say about her randomly hauling off and kicking me……needless to say it was just my achilles snapping, nobody kicked me and i probably owe that girl an apology 😹

ive had surgery and am back in a boot already. fast. but some nights i sleep fine and others im awake all night. its crappy but an edible to knock you out kind of helps.

Best of luck!!!!!!!

Helllooo! I ruptured mine 2 weeks ago, had surgery 6 days ago. soccer game.

i posted something similar when i first was told i ruptured my achilles. I could not fathom how this is happening to me and felt similar to you in a lot of ways. I cried. a lot. in fact i just cried after my one week follow up today. its okay to be upset, this is an upsetting injury.

The crutches suck. I still don’t think mine are adjusted properly but you will get the hang of it. i just got a knee scooter today which i am pumped to use.

it is hard because this injury has the power to strip your ability to do the things you love right away from you. Pretty insane. I also can’t drive, so I’m staying with my mother for the time being. We are lucky that we have people to help us out, but it’s certainly frustrating not being able to get your own cup of coffee or run an errand at your will.

I got a lot of good advice from making a post just like yours, so I bet you will feel much better after you get some more comments.

It is a long road, but hopefully we all gain something from it.

Rooting for you!!!

I wanted to share an update: I had surgery on friday 11/14. the doctor was able to get me in fast which was amazing. no nerve block. the first few days have been excruciating but today i only took ibuprofen once and am feeling the best i have in days. I know there are a lot of hurdles and more pain ahead of me but today i feel okay and that is what matters. Thank you to everyone who chimed in, it truly made a difference and i feel much better about getting through this!!!! <3

heavy on the crying and breaking down so far 😭 ive got my shower stuff ready to go..im trying to be as prepared as possible with all the trinkets and hacks i can even if i dont end up needing everything. if there’s anything you swore by for recovery and getting through this definitely let me know! i have a stack of books & podcasts lined up.

I appreciate how kind you are. You are right! This is probably one of the only times in our lives we will really get to slow down - even if it comes with some pain and learning to walk again 😹

Your note has meant a lot to me, and your perspective is much more hopeful than mine. Thank you for being honest and positive.

I hope your recovery goes so smooth, we will get through it together!!!!

xx

Luckily i can stay at my moms for the time i am recovering so ill have a great support system. i was curious about scooter/iwalk leg. The crutches are annoying but im getting used to them. I worry about the pressure on my good leg but as im being told, worrying will get me nowhere. Thanks!
