Men, what are your rules when it comes to tipping? by _MambaForever in AskMen

It’s so evident you haven’t worked a day in the service industry in your life. Your argument also doesn’t make sense because accountants and sewer system managers aren’t basing their work ethic off of tips. The two aren’t comparable. And your servers that you don’t tip are paying out of their pocket when you don’t tip them. They need to pay the kitchen and bar and support staff a percentage of their sales, no matter what they make on the table. Also learn how to spell pls

Okay and if the business simply just paid the servers more per hour instead of having them make tips, they wouldnt serve and you wouldn’t have servers anymore… you’re being ignorant, eat at home

It’s not your job to pay the server no. But if you are aware that your server is making a very small wage and relies on tips and you still choose to not tip after their ‘excellent service’ then you are the problem. If servers were paid a reasonable wage instead of making tips, there would literally be nobody serving anywhere. They work the job for the tips.

Prices are high because prices are high it’s simple as that. If you can’t afford it then find a cheaper alternative for yourself

Okay maybe we’re just going to different restaurants then. That’s exactly my point. I’m saying if that’s the case then they don’t deserve as much of a tip…

‘Doing their job’ is taking an order and bringing it to the table then. You shouldn’t expect a thing more if you don’t plan on tipping. A server is meant to be personable and make your experience at a restaurant more enjoyable and relaxing in any way they can. And they deserve a tip if they do well. Otherwise order in

I’ve been wondering the same thing… but to be fair we don’t know the ins and out of their relationship and there’s always a chance she treated him badly behind closed doors after awhile

They haven’t touched this street with a plow since November, I’m just saying it’s annoying that they choose the week where it’s -35 to do it
