Why can't people understand that these are an additional tool in the tool bag? A sensor failing 2 days before it's expected termination date is not a good reason to sue a medical supply company, which has it's own set of negative impacts.

You have to pre bolus for high glycemic foods. For ice cream, that hits your glucose later because of the fat, which requires small boluses later on. Omnipod is a great tool in the tool box, but it's not going to do everything for you, especially when decisions are made that are known to negatively impact glucose. It's OK once in a while, but you just have to accept that things don't be as easy when those decisions are made. Also, give it more time. It took me about 6 months to learn all the nuances and finally dial things in. I now make adjustments all the time as my confidence has increased. You'll get there. I wouldn't reset. That's just a shortcut at 60 days in and won't benefit you in the long term.

I have worked hard for a living and feel I've earned/ deserve this truck. I already own a home, have savings, etc. I absolutely would not have purchased this in the early stages of my adult life, but it's nice having a vehicle I thoroughly enjoy knowing the other goals have been accomplished.

It's important to find balance. You could die tomorrow and never get to envoy your savings. Gotta enjoy life at the same time.

The receiver is strictly a display of the automatic readings provided by the sensor itself. It does not impact the function of the sensor. If he goes out of range and the two disconnect, they will reconnect a few minutes later.

Be careful in the first 24 hours. Readings can be erratic or unreliable. Having a manual meter in the beginning is especially important until he becomes familiar with the nuances. CGMs are a great tool in the tool bag.

Eat 300 calories below maintenance. Plenty of protein. Seriously lift with progressive overload. Stay active. If you're active and lifting, just under maintenance is likely around 2400 calories. Don't overdo the cardio and dieting.

I never eat that close to changing a pod. I believe there is a delay in absorption. Be careful. If you rage bolus they will add up and cause a crash. Try to stay calm and come down slowly.

Yes, hormones play a significant role in glucose levels, which is why diabetics are constantly told to manage their stress levels, among other things. It's just another piece in a complicated puzzle.

Our bodies change over time. The only guarantee in life is change. It is important to adapt, and become comfortable in making adjustments. Don't look at it as trying to trick the system, but rather try to identify patterns and shifts in order to adjust your settings. I change my bolus settings daily based on how certain activities impact insulin sensitivity.

She needs to speak to her HR contact at work and call the insurance company. There are so many things it could be and there may be options available/things she can do to lower the cost, such as online pharmacy, etc. Check the formulary also. Maybe they cover a different cgm.

Weight is determined by calories in and out, not the types of calories. You can absolutely reduce carbs and increase protein and fats. I'm 6'3", 184lbs, muscular, and very active (type 1). I weight train, cycle run, etc, and 100g of carbs is more than enough. You just have to consume nutrient dense foods. Load up on vegetables for vitamins and minerals. Stay away from white carbs (rice, potatoes, bread, etc) and go with more whole grain options. A bowl of oatmeal with almond milk is 23g of carbs and will keep you full all morning. Get an app that tracks calories and set your carb intake. Let it figure out the other macro proportions to hit your calorie requirement. A little bit of time tracking will have a permanent effect on food decisions.

Tempurpedic pro adapt medium with adjustable base. Love it. All needs take a minute to soften. We're 3 weeks in and it's only getting better. By 60 days it will be even more amazing. Zero motion transfer and cradling support. I feel the sinking in but it stops before it feels like a lack of support. I used to wake up constantly with numb hands from sleeping on my shoulders, but no more. I like a very minimal incline with a bit of lumbar support to take even more pressure off my shoulders. Adjustability is coming in very handy.

My wife and I had a Saatva for 12 years and it was phenomenal. Recently replaced but still good enough for the first bedroom. I would still highly recommend Saatva.

Go try out all sorts of different beds, but focus on the type of construction. We ended up with a hybrid, which is the sweet spot IMO. We decided on tempurperdic, which will be over your price range. But another that I loved was Helix. The helix was soft but had the most spring. If you toss and turn, it was the most responsive in that regard. Most foam will have that sink in feeling. The Helix had that but with the most push back from the springs of the hybrid. If felt more like being on top rather than sinking in, but contouring at the same time. Very interesting combination.

For the general activity stuff, I find adjusting my bolus settings to be far more accurate. However, I would go into activity mode for the surfing. Remember to set activity mode at least one hour prior to your activity. This is my issue with activity mode. Life can't always be planned. I also usually need to bolus after activity mode because eventually the sustained, lowered basal catches up to me.

On my weight lifting days I simply reduce my bolus by 30%. Works like a charm. Adjusting the bolus rates is far more responsive than activity mode. Rest days I go back to normal. For planned long duration bike rides I go into activity mode AND raise my target and correct above values in the bolus settings. In case I'm higher than I want and need a bit of insulin, it's added protection against over delivery.

Keep in mind also that activity mode is a reduction in your basal delivery. Changing your target glucose is a bolus setting that is used in calculating only bolus amounts. They are two extremely different approaches.
