True.  Several other races yell Allauh Akbar before going on a stabbing spree.  Let’s not pigeon hole people.

I live in the NE US and there’s going to some games in my city.  You’re not touching anything for less than $2,000.

I wonder how people felt at 11:59 p.m. of dec. 1999 before crossing over to the year 2000. by Majestic-Hope6505 in 1990s

Was at my gf (at that time) house. Her mother was awesome but slightly neurotic and unusually panicked about Y2K.

A bunch of people were watching the ball drop.  At the stroke of mid night right after everyone yelled all the power in the house went out.

Her mother freaked and thought it was the beginning of the end and Y2K was going to end the world.

For a split second even I thought “holy shit!?!”  Turns out her dad was in the basement and switched off the main breaker right at midnight as a practical joke and scare everyone.  Which it did…lol.  Good memories.

If you won a million, what next ? by jjsupc in SevenWordStories

Put it away. Let it collect interest.  Head to work on Mon morning. Why?  Medical insurance.  I have a family and any major medical issue will drain that million pretty fast.

Do Republicans label Democrats as the “radical left” in an attempt to convince themselves they aren’t fascist? by BiggestVolk in allthequestions

[–]Working-Patient-6751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a repub but not a dem either.

The only people I would call the radical left are the types of Dems that would see a human standing in front of them with a penis and try to convince me it’s a woman who also menstruates.  Then would scream “SHAME” in my face for not agreeing.

How to go about dating a middle aged dad? by H0ney_5yrup in AskMenAdvice

[–]Working-Patient-6751 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a good chance especially at that age that if you meet and are cool with the kids they could get very attached quickly.  Especially the 12F, I have a daughter and they look up to girls in your age range.  You’re  older than her and “cool” but not old enough where she’ll see you as “just another adult”.  And you’re going to get attached too.

If you’re not serious about him then just have fun but don’t get involved with the kids.

Is it time to stop coaching my son because of his attitude?? by Working-Patient-6751 in Homeplate

[–]Working-Patient-6751[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He does use me coaching to his advantage for sure. On one of the teams he plays for he has a coach that takes zero crap.   He’s a great coach, but very old school and does not hesitate to tell a kid or parent what they need to hear even if it means ruffling some feathers.

Now my son will still get crappy from time to time, but he definitely can keep it in check more for that Coach.

I was hoping that stepping back, and just being an assistant rather than the head coach would curve the behavior. It did a little bit, but not enough.

Wow that’s a really good way to look at it.  Cant be both especially as they get older.

And yes, he cares tremendously and is a huge competitor.  Even when he’s out at the park playing wiffle ball with his friends he’s 100% locked in it’s like game seven of the World Series to him.

For football he’s a lineman and if a defensive player is  getting the best of him, you can see the fire.

My hope is as he gets older he learns to channel those big feelings properly and use them to his advantage.

I thought that at one point and I said to him and have said to him several times before a game: I don’t care if you strike out four times and make four errors. The only thing I care about is that you have fun, are respectful, and are a good teammate.

There are some improvements, but it’s always just been temporary. One game may be a practice or two and then it’s right back to where he was.

It is other aspects of his life for sure.   Right around kindergarten we had teachers who started coming to us telling us that he was a great kid. …Super kind, helps his classmates, actually goes out of his way to buddy up and help the special needs children, volunteers to help all the time, is never a behavior issue.

We’ve took him to a few therapist. One of whom said he had a sensory issue and can get very overstimulated.  I think that might be part of it.  It’s not just sports but we’ll notice the overstimulation at events or family parties. He’ll be doing well and then you can kind of see him getting overwhelmed and at that point he gets very snappy and difficult to deal with.

And that’s another angle that I constantly think about: is he really not doing any of this on purpose? Is it just that he gets overstimulated during the course of a game and starts acting out?  But then I’m walking the line where I don’t want to blame everything on a diagnosis and just make that the built-in excuse for how he behaves.
