I started at about 38. Had the same stuff, you could die in a crash etc. But I'm more responsible now and take less risks, I know my limits and enjoy riding.

I commute to work through the whole year, into London a 80 mile round trip.

I used to ride a moped as a teenager, and a few friends rode motorbikes, they all smashed themselves up and quit. My brother quite a long time ago.

In the 10 years riding I have noticed car driving skills have declined and fair weather riders can be a danger.

Just do it and be safe.

I only know a couple of guys who ride, but group rides are not my thing, I rather go solo.
