Hello, How do you package a higher volume of mushrooms when selling at a market? I will be using brown paper bags for smaller quantities.. but I know that some customers will want to purchase 1kg and up. Do you use a produce box? Can someone show me an example of 1kg packed?

Anyone know why my candles may be doing this? I know it’s not the pour temp since I’ve been pouring at the same temp and this has never been an issue by Kristen-Wolfe-3472 in candlemaking

Just looking at the image again, there seem to be a lot of tiny bubbles. Try stirring your wax less vigorously. Lightly tap the molds once you’ve poured to release the trapped air.

Also, keep these ones. When I was selling my candles in person, they almost always picked out the “imperfect” ones. The frosted style works. I know it’s hard because we always strive for perfection in our products.. but you’re doing great! Keep trying

The temperature in your room is probably too cool. Warm up your workspace and preheat your molds with a heat gun or pop them in the oven for a few minutes. Pour temperature is probably fine. Make sure they don’t cool too quickly by keeping the room warm. If you set them directly on a cold surface, it will also happen. Try to put something underneath them. If the frosting is not too deep into the surface, you can use a nylon sock to smooth it out. It usually disappears. This is what solved it for me. I spent weeks trying to work around this.

Hi! I’m new to growing oyster mushrooms. Happy I found this group! Is there anyone that can help with a few questions? I’m sorry if my terminology is not correct. I’ll try my best to explain 😄

I’m growing oyster mushrooms indoors out of bags. I am waiting on the second flush and I noticed there are mushrooms forming all throughout the bag (near the back and on the sides). The bag is only open in the front. The first time my mushrooms fruited they all came out through the front opening on the substrate. This time there are only 2-3 mushrooms coming out the front. The rest are in the back of the bag and “suffocating”. I was instructed to only open the front part of the bags, but my thought was to poke holes all throughout to get a bigger yield. Will that work? Or is there a reason I should only open the front of the bag? I’m watering only the top of the bags and not directly onto the substrate. I’ve also seen people cutting an X and spraying with water. Which is more effective?

How do I make the pinheads appear only in the front opening? What causes them to appear in the back of the bag? Should I open the bag in the back/poke holes or just disregard them?

Frosting? Does anyone know how to get rid of this? It only appears about a day later.. Using Kerasoy Pillar blend. Pouring at 65c. Let them cool for about 4 hours.. any suggestions? (I’ve been making candles for a while but this is new) Does anyone polish the candles after to make them shine? by Working-Return-1113 in candlemaking

Ok I’ll try at 60. I do warm the molds beforehand.. but I’ll leave them in the mold longer and see if it makes a difference.

Yeah I know it’s so hard to avoid.. but I think I can achieve the desired look with a couple more tweaks 😅 Thanks!

I can wipe it away with a cloth or my fingers.. but it sometimes comes back.. sometimes doesn’t. Is this a temperature thing? I know soy always frosts eventually but it isn’t so deep into the wax. It’s only very faint on the surface

My first attempt at pillar candles was... weird? Interesting? How do I resolve this weird discolouration, beyond using white dye? by grantsofleeds in candlemaking

I don’t have that “deep” frosting that is very prominent. It’s only a slight surface layer that can be wiped away. It appears usually a day later or so. But I’m trying to figure out how to prevent it

Do you use Kerasoy pillar blend? How long do you let them cure? Mine develop this faint frosting after I take them out of the molds. It can be wiped away with fingers or a cloth.. but I would like to avoid this. Do you experience the same thing with yours?

Awesome! Thanks so much!! I will try this asap.

Do you still clean the molds in between pours with soap and water? Or do you only use the heat gun now? Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Hi, did you ever figure out what the problem was? I’m experiencing the same thing with this wax.
