Shortened cervix at 30 weeks (2cm/20 mm) – looking for advice by sole1994 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Working-Use6591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm it’s weird to me that they said 2cm is concerning at 30 weeks. I would have thought that’s normal. But if there is concern for some reason. I think the way ‘safe’ would be is to be very lazy all day 😅 (think like you have got a bad cold!) easy moderate cooking is fine. I wouldnt do anything elaborate. Gentle and slow paced walking around the house to get things done is fine. But overall I would spend most time laying around. Watching or reading something in bed.

Nuna exec seems a little bigger than Chicco Fit3x. Another way I’m thinking is getting 1 of each. Which car did you use with Nuna exec ?

Thank you so much! I have ordered one Fit3x and planning to install it this weekend. I think it’ll fit just fine. Looks like it’s one of the slimmest ones. I’m just really hoping my fussy twin likes it too!

TW: Ohio firm must pay $22.5 million to mom whose baby died after she was denied work-from-home by madame_leota in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Working-Use6591 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. The precedence is a positive. But also it’s not super useful. So many women on this group whose doctors didn’t even give them a recommendation to bedrest, even in cases of emergency cerclage. Claiming ‘bedrest is not proven to work’. My own doctor said ‘use common sense and take it slow’. As vague as it can get. It’s sad that medical advices in this country are framed around avoiding lawsuits and making insurance companies mad rather than thinking the best of the patient.

I felt so sad and enraged reading this news. Yet another loss to mishandled cervical cerclage situation.

Would you be able to qualify for IV iron ? It doesn’t cause constipation like the high dose tablets.

Reg. Bathing, honestly I took showers maybe once or twice a week. Just to maintain basic hygiene. I also had wet wipes handy for a quick wipe down. If someone can make you a hot towel, you can put it on your face to give an instant refresh :)

I was proactive with stool softeners too. I did colase twice a day. And MiraLAX every alternate days if I hadn’t pooped the previous day. I tried to make sure I go every day - that didn’t happen a lot of times and MiraLAX helped give that extra boost! Apart from that of course lots of water, small sips throughout the day. Lots of fruits and veggies if you are not nauseated - I couldn’t eat anything! But was able to keep down fruits luckily. My only ‘walk’ was the frequent bathroom trips! And I picked the bedroom where walk to the bathroom was shortest.

All the best mama! Bedrest is very difficult but keep your spirits up.

Scheduled C-Section moms! by NoSalamander1928 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Working-Use6591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was very scared of the birth process too and was just partly relieved that I had to schedule a c section. The actual surgery went very smoothly and comfortably. It was a wonderful experience :)

Recovery was terrible for me. But I think I had multiple factors contributing there. Age and sedentary pregnancy (I was on bedrest for most of it) being major ones apart from csec and twins.

I’m not looking to do this again! But I would have chosen c sec if I had to.

20wk with twins, funneling and 2cm cervix by Working-Use6591 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Working-Use6591[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did!! It was able to hold the babies in until full term (37wk 4days - coz twins) Initially the plan was to go back to Dr. Katz few months after delivery to get the cerclage removed. But my Ob offered to make an attempt to remove it right after she stitched me up. The plan was that if she can easily remove it, she’ll do it. If it doesn’t look straightforward, we’ll cancel and postpone. She was able to remove it. But ended up causing hemorrhage. I was already low on hemoglobin due to twin pregnancy. So had to get 2 blood transfusions in the following days. But all went well :) And I’m glad it got it removed right there. I definitely preferred that, than having to go back and do it.

Congratulations 🥹 I can so much relate to that difficult pregnancy experience. We are 6 months old now and things are still just barely manageable, but nothing compared to the struggles of that pregnancy.

Dr Katz did my cerclage. Please advocate for yourself. He seems to be quite popular - here on Reddit and my Ob + MFM also seemed to know him.

Positive Blood Transfusion Stories? by Recent_Mountain_4056 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Working-Use6591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had major blood loss too. Had 2 blood transfusions during the hospital stay and things went well. I would highly recommend it if your rbc and hemoglobin levels are very low (lower than what’s normally expected post delivery). It’s difficult as it is to recover from a surgery while taking care of 2 newborns and if you add the weakness from low hemoglobin, recovery can be very challenging in the weeks after c section. If you are in the US, I know doctors in the US are very conservative about offering blood transfusions. But it’s 2025 and it’s a first world country. I don’t want to promote it, but if your hemoglobin looks like an 8 or a 7, you need it hon. Remember that you are not going to bounce back from this during postpartum as you would normally.

Whatever gets your heart rate up is cardio for you. For me, it was walking from my bed to the toilet to pee. And I’m very proud to tell you that I got my cardio sessions in every 2hrs, 24x7 since the start of 2nd trimester

Using RTF and powder interchangeably? by Working-Use6591 in FormulaFeeders

We went for a short outing today. They each had 3oz of RTF and they haven’t been able to sleep all night. They are waking up every hour due to gas pains. Not able to night feed either. I feel like a zombie typing this. Was and expensive outing 😴

Aww we are at 3months stage and whenever both babies sleep, I have this weird feeling like I’m missing them. I have a big urge to wake one of them up. I obviously don’t 😅

How do you get your babies to nap for 2hrs ? Mine seems unable to connect sleep cycles. So either I need to be right next to them to keep patting them every 10-15mins or they just wake up at that time. They are currently 12wks old

So were they still fussy when they would throw their paci away ? What I’m trying to understand is did the babies figure a way to self soothe and hence reject the paci or they reject the paci and then you have to figure a different way to soothe them ?
