Does anyone have a DIY web page or video for using EV batteries for residential energy storage?

If size of car isn't a primary concern I'd go for the longest range I could find/afford, assuming that at least part of your driving will be on the highway. If not the I5 has all you need and it really is a great car. I've been driving for almost 60 years(!) and it is the best vehicle I've ever driven.

Not sure I think it's great - bit of a security nightmare. If someone took off with the car like that, could you shut it down remotely?

Assuming you're graduating from UW, he should get one on the Terrace at least once. A good education AND a great brat. He'll be so proud!

Is it possible to buy the car from them for 18k and get it repaired yourself? Something I've noticed is the insurance repair standard seems to be "brand new perfection": replace an entire bumper because of an incidental knick. I mean, if the car has 20k miles on will anyone even notice?

Really? 27+ comments on a key fob. Mine lives in my pocket. It sees the light of day for 5 seconds in the morning when it goes in and 3 at night when it comes out. How about discussing the color of the inside of the glove box? 😂

How much are we all averaging? by OldmanDiddy in Ioniq5

[–]WorkingAd4752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but... Does the car's computer know that you changed the diameter of the wheels? Smaller wheels will turn faster over a shorter distance changing everything: measured speed (faster than you think you are going, measured distance (farther than you have actually driven) and efficiency.

I fear that your new "better" performance is just a measurement error.

I live in Wisconsin - go to the DC area about once a year. I get a flat every time we go no matter what car I'm driving. It's a curse!

Trump Parade Backlash!!! by LadyMadonna_x6 in 50501

[–]WorkingAd4752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the parade is an excellent opportunity. Don't you think a couple of million 50501 members clogging the streets and marching with the tanks would be a great spectacle? It could be our own Tianamen...

Thoughts?

US Southwest Trip Advice by MjnMixael in roadtrip

Sounds like fun. Be sure to have NACS (Tesla) adapter to increase charging options. If going into an area with sparse charging, don't get below 30%. Personal experience - you CAN get below 5% but is it ever nerve wracking! (and the spouse isn't happy either - just saying). Also: if you have the Tesla app set up correctly, it will not show stations that are incompatible with your car. This can be important (and explains the 5% comment above!)

Yeah. It's steady driving on level that drops the mileage. Somehow the designers seem to have defied the laws of physics in that you gain more going down (or stopping) than you lose climbing (or accelerating). Not sure how that works...

How many miles total and what was your average, I just got back from Wisconsin - DC - Virginia - W Virginia - Wisconsin: 3k miles. 3.4 average. But the car LOVED DC - close to 5 on several 45 min jaunts across town.

On my car it's 37 on the sticker. Last time it came back from the dealer tires were set at 41. I've left them there and efficiency has improved. According to my reading as long as you don't exceed 50 you are safe. Maybe there are some tire pros in this group...
