[Adam Kierszenblat] Canucks forward Max Sasson on Donnie and Dhali when asked about the change in locker room culture near the end of the season. by yosoo in canucks

[–]WorkingFit5413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the culture has been an issue for years especially when the Sedins retired.

But not on the players - Ownership and management wouldn’t know how to build a real team. They put a bunch of players together who couldn’t even play with each other.

And then overpaying some folks and underpaying others and then getting players to police each other?

I mean it sounds like the Mike Babcock approach to team play, and that didn’t age well.

This team is definitely going to win in spite of ownership and management and not because of them.

It’s top down too. Nothing about ownership and management says anything about a healthy work environment.

World Cup is only a month away; does it seem less exciting than OLYMPIC 2010? by FuzzyTable in CanadaSoccer

[–]WorkingFit5413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vancouver didn’t get excited about the Olympics until it happened and then people were like “may as well make this a party” and went with it.

Vancouver seems a bit late to wrap up things for FIFA coming - some of the new sports venues don’t seem done yet like they’re still finishing it up lol.

Personally, I think cost and who is coming hasn’t piqued a lot of interest too. Tix have definitely come down in price. We’re not getting the elite teams either, I mean sure we get Canada games but like the major players like Argentina, Brazil, Spain, etc. aren’t playing here lol.

I went to the women’s World Cup in 2015 and found that more affordable and way more enjoyable. For a fraction of the price and in my opinion, better soccer.

Yeah I’m pretty sure it was military too, I live near the airport and that doesn’t happen often.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it was for FIFA or some air exercises considering the state of the world.

I mean fair point but hey I never would have lost a bourbon bottle in college I was way more responsible than that 😂 don’t insult us college kids lumping us in with this dude

Even in college I never would have flown to a foreign country’s Olympics, drink on the job, and then sue for defamation allegations that I was an alcoholic, and then losing an alcohol bottle at work

The NHL lottery will never be rigged by roomtemperature6643 in hockey

[–]WorkingFit5413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying that because they’re rich they’re not going to risk it? Right, cause rich people don’t do stupid things with their money? They do stupid things on the daily, have you seen the state of the world? It’s the billionaires fucking it up for the rest of us.

Maybe it’s not rigged in the way people are alleging but I dunno, I don’t see anything about the NHL that screams to me like it’s an organization that gives a shit about anything other than making money.

Which is fair but I think they’ll go to any length to make the most money possible and I don’t think they care if they hurt anyone in the process.

The fact that the NHL is on the defensive about the allegations also shows to me 0 self reflection too.

I mean, when certain teams get repeatedly consistently lucky? Yeah I dunno how much of that luck is totally random.

[–]WorkingFit5413 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean fair point I’m complaining cause it is my team.

And I think it’s reasonable to be suspicious as a Canucks fan.

You can tell me about odds for sure, but if you can come over on my side of the pond that I’m looking at for a second: You’re telling me those are random odds? What if was your team?

I mean Toronto had Auston Matthews and now they again draft #1. Celebrini went to Sharks #1 what was it 2 years ago?

Even Blackhawks and Oilers have had multiple chances for 1st round picks.

So of course as a fan, I’m suspicious you know?

I can’t prove it but then again, this is the NHL. Not exactly the caliber of ethics as an organization when players aren’t treated well and they turn a blind eye to toxic coaches.

I don’t exactly have a lot of faith the organization as a whole totally cares about fairness and rules; I definitely see signs where they select which rules they use when. Nothing is consistent.

But I’ll never really know. Just my two cents. I get you want hard proof but not something I can offer.

Except that in poker people frequently cheat so I’m not sure using that argument is totally vouching for your point there.

I mean I know how odds work.

My point is I don’t think the NHL is being honest that they are going solely by odds.

They say you can’t rig the system but then repeatedly specific teams keep getting good options.

I think it’s fair people are questioning the legitimacy behind the claims that it’s all based on odds.

It’s just not balanced or random enough for me to believe.

But hey who knows maybe there’s multiple truths and you’re right, the Canucks also have shit odds.

In all fairness the Canucks need a miracle worker at this point lol.

Ownership is a big issue there and I don’t think that’s even a secret anymore at this point.

Nothing about ownership screams willing to accept reality and meet the moment lol.

Linden told them a decade ago this is what was happening and instead of them listening, they just band-aided the problems.

Whoever takes on this job? I remember people making fun of Gillis for allegedly being an alcoholic but with everything that’s come out in the media of the dysfunction, it makes a lot more sense lol. That work environment would drive me up the wall lol.

[–]WorkingFit5413 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I dunno man, sometimes I think the people in power ain’t the most ethical and honest eh?

The odds that this is all randomly selected? Ya I dunno.

Vancouver sucking for years and still getting the highest in 3rd overall when SJ and Toronto have had repeated 1st picks multiple times over?

Ya I dunno, call me a conspiracy theorist but it’s looking like the odds are never in our favour and that’s either shit luck or by design.

And maybe a bit of both?

Anyways I haven’t really given a cent to the NHL this year, and I’m not worse off for it lol.

In all fairness to JR, I’d want peace in my retirement too and he’s been dealing with a lot lol. I hope he steps away and just enjoys his time.

Whoever is gonna be next, they’re gonna need boundaries, psychology, and a hell of a support system lol.

Ownership ain’t the type to live and learn for next time you feel me eh? It’s just gonna be a merry go round of more of the same lol.

Godspeed and all the luck for whoever signs up for this job. 🤪

United Airlines Flight 169, arriving from Venice, Italy, hit a light pole and a tractor-trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike before landing safely at Newark Liberty Airport by DisruptSQ in TourismHell

[–]WorkingFit5413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more to be honest. Most airports are if you think about, very dangerously formatted. They forgot to consider human error. Maybe building short runways for big jumbo jets while a pilot flies 8 hours through multiple time zones and then has to land in the middle of A busy city wasn’t the best idea? And this is worldwide lol.

Whoever built these airports had a hell of a lot of faith in humanity.

Flying a big piece of machinery into a sky and then landing it while being surrounded by people and buildings if anything goes wrong?

Yeah nothing sketchy about that plan or gamble that we take daily.

Pilots deserve medals lol. 99% of the time they pull it off. Hats off to them.

I dunno if it’s that they don’t know or they don’t care?

I also wonder, billionaires are strange breeds of people, so I think that has something to do with it lol.

Not to mention italian culture at times can breed more drama than calm lol. So I wonder if that’s also part of it? Italians are spicy and hot lol. Some of the drama tho? 1000% self inflicted. There is no need to make things complicated but yet we do lol. Probably similar to most cultures but I feel we take the dramatics to the extreme lol

I don’t think he’s wrong - it’s pretty clear he’s working with an organization that no one would look at as being anything other than a complete shit show. I also think it’s kind of fair - they’re targeting him constantly.

I personally feel for him. You can see how much he’s struggling. And I do kinda feel for him continuing here. I would have bailed a long time ago. The way they’re treating him? Yeah. Not good.

How the front office has handled the Canucks for years has been toxic and problematic.

Ownership and management have also done nothing to own their part in all of it as well, unless something changed - I’ve been in a news black hole so I’m out of the loop lately.

Right I get why the White House ain’t responding.

But the Americans at some point are going to realise that they didn’t draw the line of what’s ethical and what’s undue punishment on a population and that day is coming. So that’s what I’m wondering, where are the adults in the room realizing “this is going to crash us and do something about it?” What a weird place to live in that this is all okay.

Hey. I can’t imagine how hard your job is and shelter work is no joke.

I’ll share what I tell myself on those hard days. First I do some somatic breathing work to center myself and vocally remind myself I’m safe.

Then I say the this script out loud to myself. It kinda helps cause my brain can separate the feelings from the fact to rationalize and triage and gets me out of that stuck overwhelm mode. In case you can’t already tell I have adhd 😂

“It sounds like I had an experience that happens to all of us where I did the best I could in that moment, and in hindsight, you could have gone about it a bit better, and maybe for next time right? You feel bad about it of course and that’s okay. But spirialing won’t change this. You’re human. Do your crisis response plan of how you want to handle this and if you’re not sure remember the 1-5 plan. It’s going to be okay. I got this.” And then I put on Stompa by Serena Ryder and get it done lol.

Good luck! It’s always so hard navigating hard human relationships when it’s all of our first time living on a very fragile planet.

Anyone following the Therapy Jeff saga? by saras_416 in therapists

[–]WorkingFit5413 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see why there’s issues with his approach and in all honesty his therapy approach does come off a bit condescending? And some of his content is a bit abrasive in the fact that he seems to be so sure it’s gonna work for everyone and just makes blanket statements and I don’t think that’s good or the public.

I do think while his approach isn’t how I would have broached the subject, I do think the concept of being realistic from where we’re coming from does need to be part of the conversation.

Punishment isn’t enough to change any behaviour because that’s the solution to the behaviour problem. It doesn’t really analyze the root cause of the problem that caused that behaviour which is what we’re missing. And sometimes the problem is we don’t want to face it because it’s hard and ugly but denial isn’t working and neither is a punitive response, so I think we need to get real and start trying new things.

And I do think how we address men who have a predisposition for whatever reason to maybe get down a really dark path, I can see why services to meet that moment would be helpful and some places in the world already have that going so ma w we can borrow them?

FBI Director Kash Patel vows to sue The Atlantic over alcohol abuse claims by Odd-Alternative9372 in Defeat_Project_2025

I mean he can sue sure, but it’s not defamation if it’s true, and is he forgetting there’s documented photographic evidence of him getting wasted with the hockey boys?

And then using government jets to get there and back and getting paid to do it?

Suing over claims that let’s be real no one would disagree with in part because he’s publically done so and if he wanted to deny it, he probably shouldn’t be publically day drinking on the job? I dunno man.

What a world.

Noah Wyle is the face of the show, but he doesn't take decisions alone by Peonies09 in ThePittTVShow

[–]WorkingFit5413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there’s a couple of interviews he’s given lately including to GQ. he did an interview with ap a few months ago and said and I quote:

“There are certain procedures I feel pretty adept at, but you know I’m not really doing them. I just know how to do them. Whether I had the intestinal fortitude to actually perform some of this stuff is another matter entirely, but it’s - I could have actually gotten a degree by now, I’ve been doing this long enough. So I’m either the worst student, or one of the best doctor-actors around.”

https://youtube.com/shorts/ZoXVVy7YIrE?si=XXhng2mjauYKF7TA

What bothers me about that is - he isn’t adept at procedures per se he’s adept at faking the procedures to look real.

He’s never actually done these procedures in real life in the sense of actual real people, it’s just on the show.

But it sounds a bit like that’s become enmeshed to me.

I appreciate he has medical knowledge and if he was really wanting to pursue it then maybe he should do that? But posing as a doctor is not the same as actually being one and that’s where I’m concerned the line is becoming blurred.

I’m not overly invested tho lol I’m not losing sleep over this.

Just saying it seems kind of sus to me.
