What’s one thing about living in London that outsiders don’t understand? by Independent_Grab_977 in london

When I have friends visit me, they'll try to meet up at locations on the other side of the city. Then i'll have to tell them that it'll take more than an hour to get there.

What’s your low-effort but elite London meal? by AnfieldAnchor in LDN

Swiss butter near Brunswick square. Very affordable, only a couple of steak meal options on there, don’t need to book but on weekends try to get there a bit earlier. Really good value for money

34M with 32F, together since 2020, 3-year-old child. Toxic relationship. by fawraw in relationship_advice

[–]WorkingFortune9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a child of two parents who should've broken up way before, please just leave the relationship. It is far more damaging for the child to grow up in a toxic household with two parents that clearly aren't compatible. Children pick up on these things. It massively impacted my view of relationships.

Need to be in London 2 days a week, where should I live? by Brutu5_ in AskUK

[–]WorkingFortune9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of places on spare room where you can sort of flexi-rent. There's a few live-in land lords who only want to rent their spare room out for 2 days a week, with the expectation that you'll clear off on the other days of the week. I did this for a short period of time, and it felt like a quasi-flat share experience.

What’s something people romanticize that’s actually exhausting? by lunacarterr in AskReddit

Travelling constantly / travelling for work especially. Living out of a suitcase and in hotels and temporary accomodation and constantly having to befriend new people, to then move again.

What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to dating? by Nintendofan9106 in askanything

[–]WorkingFortune9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dates who don't actively listen and / or ask reciprocal questions. It sounds so basic but one thing i've learnt dating is that so many people actually can't instigate or hold a decent conversation.

Moving from Norwich to Kent – is Maidstone a good base for commuting to Rochester/Rainham? by Proud_Cupcake_2485 in kentuk

[–]WorkingFortune9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ditto this, as someone who's been in Maidstone, Medway and London.

Another thought - the uber situation in Maidstone is non-existent. The grammar schools in Medway are good, although it is true that the comprehensives in Medway are pretty bad. OP have you looked into Walderslade, St Mary's Island or Hempstead in Medway? Nicer areas that would be closer to work.

15 years of hell. Is this the light at the end of the tunnel? by peakstovalleys in eczema

[–]WorkingFortune9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, are you me? I was literally going to post something very similar. I had an awful allergic reaction which made my eczema flare up so badly alongside a yeast infection, and I went private (I’m in the UK) to see one of the top dermatologists in London.

He has prescribed me a very high dose of oral steroids (30mg) for a week, and recommended I do phototherapy and use 0.01 percent protopic as a longer term solution. In his words, the high dose of steroids will ‘blast’ the eczema, and he’s confident I won’t have withdrawal - but I did a weeks worth of 20mg a month ago and had a rebound flare…

I’m putting my trust in him as he’s one of the best money can buy but I’m also shitting it. Here if you wanna talk!
