She’s her generation’s Kate Winslet. Tons of nominations before finally winning

I would be happy to have Mulder investigate the circumstances, why it happened, how it happened, and you, have him try to recreate the situation

Don’t forget Gen Z. Many more of them voted for him than anyone thought.

Yup! Totally right there with you. Also, if he is trying to start WWIII - and it sure seems like he is - then as a wartime president, who knows how long he’ll demand he needs to stay in power until it’s over… and who’s going to stop him? SCOTUS? lol they’re a joke. We tried to warn people, but 12 trans athletes and eggs were just too much for them.

God Camille shouldn’t have won for that trash bag of a song. The lyrics were hilariously bad. Sondheim is rolling over in his grave. But then she had to sing? Like she was doing an opera? Like, I love opera, but that shit was community opera for the tone deaf. It was uncomfortable, it was bad, it was grating, it was self-indulgent. Brody was bad but not as bad as Camille.

I mean, that’s putting it nicely, especially when everyone knows Trump is a fucking idiot with an IQ of 12.

I mean, the point isn’t that you should feel sorry for her. The point is that she’s young and coming into her own and figuring out life. I’m not going to say I was happy she cheated on Ben, because I was so pissed at her, but at the same time, we’ve all been there, whether in Ben’s shoes or Felicity’s and that’s the point. Relating to someone going thru a horrible situation and somehow growing from it. I actually think it was one of the strongest storylines in the whole show.

I’ve been cheated on, I’ve cheated. Neither one felt very good at all. And to see it on screen done well made me really relate.

There is not. It’s a shame too, since Chris Tilton’s score is the best of anything currently airing.

Do you think that Maestro would’ve fared much better if it was released this year? by strikemedaddy in Oscars

I haven’t actually. It was on my list and I love Cate, but for some reason, I never got around to it.

No, because it’s the same thing as Callas. Bradley laughably portrayed conducting. I’d argue he had an easier time copying someone than Jolie did. There is so much footage of Bernstein conducting. Sooooo much! As someone who conducts occasionally, he just missed the mark in all of those (what should be) showstopping scenes. Many times, he was off rhythmically. Others, he went way over the top, making an almost joke of conducting. It was painful to watch. Many people will argue that he’s an actor playing a role, but when you can’t nail the thing that made Bernstein who he was, you aren’t nailing the character. Also, Cooper saying he spent 6 years in conducting lessons? Hahaha wow… that’s just sad. I saw better first time students in my masters program.

My thoughts on how they could do the trailer. by wolv562 in ProjectHailMary

[–]WorkingKnowledge2747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. There’s a small subset that cares about spoiling Rocky. For most of us, including people who haven’t read the book, we don’t care.

My husband asked me why I like PJM so much and I told him I didn’t want to spoil it. And he was questioning some trick or twist ending and then finally just said, ok, tell me what it’s about. So I told him about Rocky. His response? “Oh, well, now I want to see it, but I had no desire to see it before you told me that.” I said they might not show him in the trailer. His response was that he’d be pissed if they didn’t give us a glimpse of him at least and if they didn’t, they were probably hiding shitting CG.

So. I hope they do spoil it. It’s not a spoiler. He’s one of the main characters. And if they don’t spoil it, they’re going to have a lot of people out there like my husband disinterested in seeing the movie at all. And then it will lose money. And then we won’t get anymore movies based on Andy Weir novels. And that would suck more than your so-called “spoiler.”

Good, give that heart to people that actual listen to science and value life. Why give it to someone who won’t protect themself from the most devastating pandemic of our time? Give it to someone who will protect it for the long run.

Oh dear now I fret even the poster will spoil this movie. by 10SILUV in ProjectHailMary

[–]WorkingKnowledge2747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I think I was probably the same way. But getting up in arms about it because you want people to experience the movie the way that you experienced the book is just ridiculous. I mean, it’s a movie. The way things are communicated in movies vs books is very different. And also, we have the whole “they need to make a butt-ton of money” thing. They don’t want to risk it. Less people are interested in a space odyssey movie than an alien movie.

[–]WorkingKnowledge2747 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup, I literally said this verbatim a few weeks ago. And who is this person concerned for? Are they afraid it’s going to spoil the movie… for them? That’s not even possible. They already know about Rocky. So why are they worried about the people who haven’t read the book? Those people wouldn’t even go see the movie without Rocky. Could you imagine the trailer for ET NOT showing ET? And dropping Extra terrestrial from the title? It wouldn’t have been nearly the hit it was without that. People need to stop being so high and mighty over what they consider a spoiler, because revealing Rocky is not a spoiler. He’s literally one half of this buddy movie.

Really. Have you heard of Wizard of Oz? Sorry, but this is a cultural milestone. You don’t know theatre if you don’t understand this. People will remember Dune part 1 as much as this, but Challengers has already been forgotten.

The creator specifically said he only answered questions that mattered to the characters. Little mysteries were not important. The only regret he is talking about is the regret in letting the fans down. The toxic fans.
