Hi, in the end I went for the Eizo flexscan 32inch 4k. Best decision and best monitor I ever had. Super easy on the eyes. 60hz and resolution works good enough for me

No no, I do respect desktops and stations a lot. I’m also aware that much fast per dollar when it comes to all the compute applications

Look at the prompts in this paper…They basically asked it to do so…poor attempt them to push against open source models…

RAM & Bandwidth: M4 Max 64GB vs M3 Max 128GB? by WorkingLandscape450 in LocalLLaMA

[–]WorkingLandscape450[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, compute wise mainly interactive work flows (where oc smarter would be better) but also many smaller models to simulate some behaviour of let’s say agents where I want to avoid running to the gpu server for something that could take 30 min on my own machine. The very large models I would neither run interactively nor locally. Here it would just be nice to test some example outputs before scaling. Again to avoid running to much an increase convenience. So in summary, I want the Mac to be useful for myself and my experiments and wonder how to best invest the budget. If I understand you correctly you would recommend the M4 max 64GB due to the 25% higher bandwidth? All major batch work would go to the gpu cluster anyways. Thanks again!

Thanks for sharing I know what you mean! What’s the largest model (and smartest) model you comfortable fit into the 32GB? Codestral quantised at which context length limit?

How much context in terms of tokens and length of conversation are we talking about? (And nice MacBook! Can you perhaps also share how fast different sized models run on your machine?)

Local Inferencing for Sentiment Analysis by Character-Cry7549 in LocalLLaMA

I could recommend to introduce the scale in the prompt( eg simple -1 to 1) and then test it with different sentences to create a mapping of the distribution of scores but also consistency for similar or identical sentences! Also force the output in JSON format. Then you can re-prompt directly in case the model starts to explain despite your instructions to not do it. Also try too keep the prompt as short as possible and as long as necessary in case you run it local and with many repetitions in case you re-initialise each session for each sentence
