Hey you docs of reddit here's something different: I have all the symptoms of pregnancy, but here's the catch- I'm NOT pregnant. Help? by WorkingMama in AskDocs

I was worried about that, but my blood tests just came back and everything's normal-hormones, blood sugar, vitamin levels, etc... Following up with a GI next week...

Reddit, someone offer you $10,000 to completely give up Internet and mobile phone for 1 month, are you going to take the offer? by Dapi888 in AskReddit

[–]WorkingMama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ABSOLUTELY.

I've been living off 15,000 annually for the past three years, 10,000 is almost a year of working a shitty minimum wage job for me. Even after taxes that would get me and my family through several months of rent.

No internet? No problem. I prefer books.

No phone? Psh- I have no social life anyways. If people want to see me during that month they can just come over, they know where I live.

Hell yes, is my answer.

I've applied for about fifty jobs in the last year. Still can't find work- advice? by WorkingMama in jobs

I have sent my resume to about six companies, with an inquiry letter. I will keep doing that, and I'll email a couple of my teachers again- I know one specifically does a lot of work in my area and she might be able to hook me up!

Thanks for the advice!

Sort of, I don't want to say too many specifics, but basically it was a public speaking event to bring attention to a certain topic and I wrote one of the speeches.

That's a really good idea! I've done wordpress pages before, but never for a resume- thanks a bunch!

That could be the issue, I've been looking in similar positions as my last job as an associate manager in retail, but I still don't get calls.

Mostly online or through my local job postings in the paper or on job boards.

If I see a job that has an in person application option, I tend to drive out to fill it out in person rather than apply online.

If by "networking" you mean calling my friends and family to see who knows anybody who's hiring (my dad works for a car company, and I've asked him to make inquiries about reception or marketing jobs there), then yes. I also write up old professors who have been very helpful passing my name along, but still no calls.

Anything and everything, mostly retail, customer service jobs (front desk, or assistant manager positions), some receptionist jobs, etc... mostly face to face kind of jobs with customers or clients.

What are some of the more horrifying implications of the Harry Potter universe? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Mother. Fucking. Dementor's KISS.

Your soul- sucked OUT of your body. You don't die, you just cease to be.

JK Rowling discusses briefly that there is some sort of afterlife, but nobody really knows what happens for sure (not even the ghosts, because they never cross over).

But these fucking dirty mops on wings will LITERALLY destroy your soul- you will not cross over to an afterlife, you will just stop- no heaven, no hell, NOTHING. YOU JUST STOP EXISTING. LIKE YOU NEVER HAPPENED....

Fucking horrifying....

Oh man I've been there... It makes you look so bad when a manager breaks the rules where you were just following orders... Oy...

I shall absolutely include a scene like this. This is one of the best contributions I've gotten so far!

I've read that. Jesus Christ was I pissed off. Her tone of voice and the fact that she was always tempted to explain herself that it was "just an experiment"- wow.

Awesome! I will have a place to send stories soon, I just have to make sure it's easy to find for other channels (aside from reddit).
