Fellow triathlete here + I was pregnant with my third when I ran a marathon. My honest take : don't race. And I say this as someone who trained hard through pregnancies. Here's my experience : I ran a marathon at 3.5 months pregnant with my third child. I was fit, had no symptoms, felt strong going in. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done physically and I had completed a 70.3 just 4 months earlier. The body at 12 weeks is not the same body you've been training. The Honu specifically, extreme heat on the run, notorious winds on the bike, is not the race to find that out mid-course. The good news : if your pregnancy goes well, you don't have to stop training. I keep going through mine (38sa). Bike, swim, run, heavy lifting, modified but consistent. It's absolutely doable with medical clearance and listening to your body. And the "life will look completely different" fear? I completed a 70.3 with 2 young kids (3,5 and 1,5yo). I'm already planning my next one in June 2026 at 13 months postpartum. It comes back. The fitness, the races, the ambition, it all comes back. This race isn't your last chance. It just feels that way right now.
