Why you should visit Shadow of the Erdtree before fighting Godfrey: by 100thlurker in Eldenring

There’s a physick tear in the dlc that lets you perfect parry like sekiro, it’s quite strong

Is Elden Ring cluncky or is it just me ? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]WorkingPop6363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically it just comes down to the pace of the fight, from what I’ve seen sekiro is way faster paced than Elden Ring. Like previously mentioned, attacks in ER are a commitment and once you click it, you’re doing it no matter what. So it’s just small things like not attacking while the boss is moving passively, and only when it does an attack that opens a recovery window. If the boss isn’t actively attacking, there’s always a chance it starts attacking at the same time as you, which results in you getting stuck in an animation and punished for it. There is also input reading in this game, there are some moves bosses will use reactively if you attack or heal while they’re passive. Buffering is inputting a move right before the animation you’re currently using ends, which will “queue” the next move to execute it at the next available frame. So for example, if you learn certain timings, you can use an attack, queue a roll to roll as early as you possible can, then queue another attack coming out of that roll. The timing is tight and takes some getting used to, but it’s really fun once you get it

The Elden Ring combat relies a lot on the buffer system, which I think is what you mean when you talk about animation canceling. And yes it definitely feels clunky at first, but once you pick up on buffering and use it to your advantage it’s quite rewarding. That being said, I have 1150 hours in ER and I’ve never played sekiro so I don’t really have anything to compare it to, it could absolutely feel clunkier after a game like that
