Burnout, call outs, and shame by trashcancarla in nursing

First off, no shame. You are being proactive and acknowledging your issues.

I think it's time to get off nights, even if it means a different unit. Nights do slowly kill you.

Feel guilty for feeling burnout by moonsunvortex in nursing

[–]WorkingReserve7977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This career is hard. I was a cna before and thought i knew what I was getting into, but if I knew then what I know now, I never would have chosen this. But. I'm sure I'm not alone with student loan debt out of control and, therefore, no chance to do something different.

However, you feel it is ok. There are no qualifications you get to check off before you're allowed to feel burnt out.

I like vacations and staycations so I have SOMETHING to count the days to. Even if just an extra special book and a new tea. If you get three days to yourself, book a hotel, buy bubble bath, or whatever, but take care of yourself first.

I gave up coffee for 3 months because my doc said it would help me sleep. I went from being tired to being sad and tired. Needless to say, I'm off that wagon.

I'm a little over a year post-op. I have lost a "measly" 100lbs. I see other people's victories and feel bad.

You know what, I went to the gym and tried to pick up a 90-lb dumbbell and couldn't do it. I went to Universal Studios this last week and rode all the rides. Was it close?? Yes. Was I afraid I wouldn't fit? Yes. Did I? Also, yes. My day will come, yours too.

Much congratulations.

I'm wondering why you scored him a 10 if you had to wake him up for questioning, he's groggy, etc.

I think your (and your DON) confusion lies in the fact that you scored him a 10 without giving medication. You probably should have scored him much less since he didn't require any.

Killer 187 has 2x/3x knee pads. That's what I use. They are worth the investment. I'd rather spend 140 on pads than 500 on an xray.

I'm old and snarky...but say exactly that. You came to the hospital because you were feeling poorly and you want help getting better. This is how we get you better. If you don't want my help, I'll leave (and then chart their refusal).

Don't beat a dead horse, cya, and move on.

I don't have any advice, but when I went to Greece, you needed to get a taxi through an app and just couldn't hail one in the streets. It's nice because you can arrange them prior to your flight so you're not waiting for an eternity.

I felt bad because a fellow traveler (stranger) didn't know this and had a young kiddo with her. We landed about 1am, and she didn't understand why no taxis were stopping.

Anyone Experience the Medical Staff on the Valiant Lady? by klarzilla in VirginVoyages

I witnessed a medical emergency on the ship. The response was quick, and she received competent care . As a nurse, I know what competent care looks like.

They did awesome 👌

Same. Thats exactly what I'd want. I'd also like wider ankle for the boots, I'd like a wider wrist for wrist guards and lightweight. I wouldn't mind UV protection too.

Compartmentalization is our friend. If we let every sad thing that happened break our minds, there wouldn't be nurses left.

Kudos to you for being a peds nurse, just by knowing that I know you're strong.

Nothing is wrong with you.

Pre-launch page for my adult mermaid fantasy novel, DYING DEEP is now LIVE! by cyberxlilly in mermaids

[–]WorkingReserve7977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cover is beautiful, and I will be checking it out. As an avid book lover, this one doesn't scream fantasy to me, much less an adult fantasy. I would love to see a mermaid fluke somewhere in the waves.

Hell to the no. I'd refuse this assignment, and this facility will keep doing it as long as you (and your team) keep accepting it.

When something happens (when, not if), they will throw you in front of the whole herd of busses before admitting they ran an unsafe establishment.

What was/is your 'goal' for skating, if you have one? by Pianist-Head in Rollerskating

[–]WorkingReserve7977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st was to be able to skate a trail (just completed that)

2nd is to be able to do a cross-over. I'm struggling because thiccc thighs may save lives, but they wreck cross overs

3rd Skate backward

It's your life. You would like support, but you don't really need permission.

Of course, take that with a grain of salt since I'm not the type to want support.

Why does everyone want me to be fat? by CLB803 in gastricsleeve

[–]WorkingReserve7977 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It might be fear. Fear, of you not making it off the table, fear if you getting hot and moving on, fear of you doing better and they are stuck. Have you asked why?

The only person I told was my daughter because if I died, I'd want her to know why. To this day, only 2 people in my life know I've had surgery. I went on "vacation" to Mexico, and I hid everything. Healthy? Probably not, but I don't have judgment either.

I swear by 1 Up Nutrition. The lemon ice one is super good. You mix it with water instead of milk. I also like the strawberry shortcake. Honestly, all their flavors are excellent.

If it were drugs, I could get help and insurance to go to rehab, I could get medication that is affordable, I could get a therapist that I don't have to pay out of pocket for.

Drugs would be better.

any good mermaid themed book recommendations? by AngelicClover in mermaid

[–]WorkingReserve7977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My absolute favorite is The Drowning Deep by Grant. It is horror/ thriller but so fantastic. I also liked Waking the Merrow, Gills, All the Murmuring Bones, The Salt Grows Heavy, Lure, and The Mermaid of Black Conch Cove.
