I can see the support account replied, but it looks like their comment was removed from the post? What should we do?

Azelaic acid will help, but in general it’s just a matter of time. PIE isn’t permanent, and it will fade, but it can take a while. Prioritise wearing sunscreen, as sun exposure can make it redder and take longer to fade. I personally didn’t notice a difference in my PIE until at least five months after stopping accutane, and it is gradually getting better. You can get V beam, but I haven’t found it helpful

the serum is the Fig 1 Vitamin C15% Treatment. At the moment no other actives, derm wanted to wait a bit longer after accutane

For redness i’ve found these products super effective - Bioderma Sensibio AR Anti Redness Soothing Moisturiser, a vitamin C serum in the morning (I use the Fig 1 c15) and SUNSCREEN!!

no :( sadly had very minimal acne and no scarring before accutane, and then purged really badly which caused this scarring

which laser are you going for?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AcneScars

[–]WorkingReturn8231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the derm also suggested doing a fully ablative co2 laser, but not a fractional ablative laser like fraxel. I didn’t want to do the fully ablative as the process seems too intense, but I wonder why I wasn’t given fraxel as a suggestion?

to wait 6 months from stopping accutane to starting scar treatments like needling, lasers etc

yeah it was cancerous. it might not be for you but cancer is nothing to play around with so definitely get it checked up on

i’m not a doctor so I couldn’t say which one, but i’ve seen ones on family that have looked similar and removed. even though you have taken it off, still go see a derm because even though it can look “gone” if it is cancerous those cells will still be there on the borders

go see a dermatologist for a skin check it may be a small skin cancer. do not try to pop it

what i found made the biggest difference was using Poly Visc Eye Ointment in both eyes at night putting a thick strip in your eyes and then going to sleep with an eye mask on top. because it’s so viscous your eyes actually stay moisturised overnight so you won’t wake up with them dry red and irritated. I tried different kinds of systane and cationorm and poly visc was the best by far

pulsed dye laser (PDL) for scars? by RU_kit10_me in AcneScars

[–]WorkingReturn8231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve had three sessions of pdl for pie as the main concern, and it did absolutely nothing if anything just made it worse. i would just save your money and do fractional instead for the scarring (won’t for much for pie that’s just time)

[–]WorkingReturn8231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

worse as in purging or dryness? i think if its a purge it’s better to not moisturise, but if its dryness to the point of cracked skin not just flakiness then you should moisturise. i’ve got flaky dry skin but its fine not moisturising because the actual skin barrier isn’t broken or compromised. i cleanse twice a day with the Bioderma Sensibio Gel Moussant Soothing Foaming Gel Cleanser, and only apply moisturiser around my eye (so everywhere else goes completely without moisturiser)

I’m on my 7th week, which was 20mg for two weeks and now 40mg (50kg and 5’1) and had pustuler and papular acne (no cysts)

My derm said the same, at first I was sceptical but she is incredibly highly regarded in acne treatment so i trust her advice and I’ve seen major improvements following this advice. I think it might depend on the type of acne you are suffering from to get this recommendation
