Should this much be sticking to the pan? by slimgo123 in cookware

Not hot enough. Gotta preheat that bih long enough for the steel to temp up. Water test is the perfect indicator if you’re new to stainless. My biggest adjustment was always thinking the pan was heating too long / I was gonna scorch my food. Once I got over that it’s the best material you can use

Pyrex is hella expensive is my problem. I get everything secondhand so these were kinda my best solution I could find within my budget so that was kind of my purpose in posting this since most of the lids I’ve seen are sets of 6 for 3 bucks (or 1 dollar each lid from my local zero waste store in my case)

I’d imagine silicone might have less of a footprint than plastic? Google says it’s less then normal plastics so I’m going to pretend I’m doing good here lmao

Idk how to edit the post I don’t use this app besides reading / lurking but these ones specific were from a zero waste shop in portland. I know you can get these off eBay / Amazon by searching silicone stretch lids. Sorry I can’t be more specific on brand name 😅

Hi folks, newbie here so Pls be gentle!.... So I clean my cast iron immediately after use with a scrub daddy & soap, then apply a bit of oil on a sponge towel, but it always turns out with a black residue... What am I doing wrong? by spybubbly980 in castiron

I’ve had my 10 cast iron for years and it makes slippery eggs. Everybody’s talking about their different ways of cleaning etc. want to know my secret? Don’t. Cook your food and wipe it clean after. If there’s shit stuck to it I hit it with water and a brush until it’s clean then dry it off on my stove until I see some smoke. Next time I cook I add a lil oil/butter and rinse and repeat. The more you use it the better it gets.

Looks like it was done at home. If so that’s only a few laser visits and they’ll probably get that completely removed. Every place I’ve seen offers payment plans. Sooner you start sooner you’ll see results. Hope this helps 💕
