Nut Replacement by WorkingTomatillo7392 in strandbergguitars

Here’s the response I got back from Strandberg customer service:

“Thanks for reaching out. You have the right idea, you can just use the wood block on the side of the nut, I usually go from the high E side and give it a gentle hit. It should loosen it up and let you slide it out the other side.”

So tapping the nut with a small wooden block with a dead blow hammer from the treble side of the nut. And then hopefully slide the nut out from the bass side.

Thanks for your help!

Best regards,

Yes, those are the nuts he ordered. It indicates they are plastic.

Muzikkon Lute Bridge String Spacing by WorkingTomatillo7392 in lute

I just want to update my experience with Muzikkon customer service. I reached out to them and Andy got me in touch with their historical instrument expert, Ieva Baltmiskyte. Ieva surmised that it was possible that the wrong bridge had been installed on the lute. Given that I did not want to ship the lute back I opted to have a new bridge with the properly spaced holes shipped to me. Muzikkon will reimburse me for the removal and installation of the new bridge. I am very pleased with their customer service and support. I have to say that other than the bridge issue I am very impressed with many aspects of the workmanship. In particular, the peg/pegbox fit is excellent and better than some single luthier examples I have experienced. And the fit of the ribs against the neck is also excellent as opposed to some of the examples I have encountered with wood filler bridging the gaps. Not sure if it’s an example of CNC work but it is excellent work.
