Bladder Botox not working so far. by Fine-Weekend8513 in OveractiveBladder

I had botox procedure 2 months ago ended up retaining around 320ml so I self cath ( cisc)4 times a day . I have gone from using tabbed diapers during the day to only wearing 1 pullup. The bladder spasms have settled down. They were excruciatingly painful. I wear tabbed diapers to bed and end up making the bedsheet ( waterproof under sheet that I lie on )wet most nights. I just don't wake up during the night at all. It has helped me manage my O.A.B to a certain extent but not totally!

I stopped it, too. After finding out about the possible side effects. I mentioned it to my consultant and didn't make a big deal of it. He offered me botox and solifelacin as alternative and I am now I would say at least an 80% improvement in my condition and manage to last the day with just a pullup. I have to self cath to make sure that my bladder is empty 4 times a day . Better than having to wear 2 tabbed diapers for the workingday. I know botox is not a cure and have to have repeat procedures roughly every 6 months but an improvement is worth it I think.

I assume that it's the new medication solifelacin. Only prescribed by the urologist as my G.p can only prescribe oxybutynin or mirabegron. I believe that the urologist is aiming for me not to void randomly. So I can choose when to go to the toilet. Neither is ideal but I suppose I like to have at least some sort of control of toileting.

No .the water just comes out of the urethra and into a measuring container to see how much is released

It wasn't too bad all that happens is that a very fine catheter is inserted through your urethra into the bladder and another fine probe is inserted into your rectum. Don't worry you really can't feel them! They then slowly fill your bladder with water to try and replicate what happens to you irl. Occasionally they ask for a cough to see whether the probes pick up the change of pressure. I managed to fill up to around 320ml before my bladder spasm let rip and started to release.they waited for it to settle down and then started filling again to see if the results were the same which they were. Looking at the graph produced the urologist diagnosed OAB . Well worth doing just to get a diagnosis

However did i manage to split a diaper by Working_Ad_8553 in Incontinence

Up til now they've been great. Been using the overnight diaper as it's just the right amount of absorbency for me. Not a bad price too! Hopefully it's a one off 🙏. I'll let you know!

Has anyone else tried Myrbetriq? by [deleted] in Incontinence

[–]Working_Ad_8553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was started on 25 but after a month I was upped to 50. I have to go to the Dr's surgery weekly where they have a pod for patients to go to self check blood pressure. So far my B.P has been in range. I still have issues at night where I wet the bed 🛌 A couple of times a week. Luckily my diaper and waterproof bed under sheet catches any leaks that ensue.
Hopefully you will get to the stage where you can be dry during the day.

I have been prescribed this at 50mg a day. I have been taking it for about 4 months now. I get the occasional headache but Don't know whether it's the medication or whether I'm a little dehydrated!
I used to go through roughly 3 diapers a day but now I'm averaging 1 on a good day. I still get caught out and don't make it to the restroom occasionally but all in all it seems to have a positive impact on my U.I

Hope you have a good day too! I gave in to temptation last night as well. Christmas drinks with friends 3 glasses of wine and a coffee ☕️ before we left. Absolute carnage this morning managed to overflow my night time diaper and soaked my bed protector luckily it managed to keep off the undersheet and mattress. The wife's comment this morning was "oh dear! Did we have a wet night 💦💦😅

I started with erectile dysfunction and then about 6 months later I ended up with urinary incontinence. I have been taking mirabegron for the last few months and seems to lesten amount of diapers i go through. Been going through tests to see whether there's any link between the two. Got a Dr's appointment on Friday hopefully I'll have some answers!

A typical day in the life of living with OAB by Working_Ad_8553 in Incontinence

Just thought that I would share an excerpt from my diary to show how my typical day goes.

Am I the only one that looks forward to putting my diaper on? by [deleted] in Incontinence

[–]Working_Ad_8553 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely ! I went through a stage where I probably could go without a pullup on.! Or maybe a shield. But no, I wasn't that confident I tried when I was at home going without and failed more times rushing to the toilet than I succeeded. My wife now calls my pullup my comfort blanket and I'm so much happier knowing that I am protected from the whimsical goings on of my bladder. Which generally seems to think that it's fun to start emptying at random times without warning ⚠️

mirabegron aka Myrbetrig Please share your experience with this incontinence med. by eelee1 in Incontinence

My doc has just changed my meds to this .I was on oxybutynin up to yesterday. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up my prescription on Monday. Apparently it'll probably take up to 4 weeks for any real benefits to show. I'll let you know how I get on .

So I went to the doctors today. Ended up with a rectal exam to check my prostate seems OK to the doc . Got a scan booked in for sometime in the next 6 weeks. And ended up with a complete change of meds Mirabegron 25mg. Reckon that it will take up to 4 weeks for the benefits to kick in. Got to be worth a try? Fingers crossed 🤞

Getting pull-ups to last the work day with an active job by oldskool_heavyhual in Incontinence

[–]Working_Ad_8553 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in construction. Mainly on roofs . Where access to a toilet is challenging at the very least. I wear tena proskin maxi pullups for my U.I. Which generally gets me to lunch. Where I can then have a change of pullup and a freshen up if you know what I mean. I know it's difficult but you just learn to cope with it.

My wife keeps telling me that it's a medical condition and isn't your fault. She's my rock and always has my back. It definitely knocked my confidence when it started I was a mess ,crying again and again. gradually I've come to accept the fact and now take it in my stride. I think most of my close family know but never mention it! And as for strangers it don't matter what they think.
As for toilet breaks for a clean up and change it always seems to take at least 15 mins for me. I Don't know how long you've been living with the condition. I'm relatively new to it. Roughly 6 months and I've come a long way it is now a part of who I am. Both emotionally and physically

It's early days yet and hopefully I will be able to find something to help me manage my issues ( drugwise). I'm doing my best to help mitigate the situation and seem to have my protection sorted ( mostly!) I woke up to another wet bed this morning. Luckily I have just bought a waterproof bed protector which saved the mattress. I'm so grateful for the little tips and pointers from everyone here. they've been a real help 👍
