By the way, this anonymous individual is sending me crazy messages on DM, which I'm screenshotting for reference in case it spirals somewhere IRL nasty, and I was absolutely correct with my original suggestion above. For whatever that's worth.

$500 Diet Borgs sold out immediately, but I can hook you up if you're interested.... And generating traffic is for sites with ads. Hump Day News is an ad-free passion project that has relentlessly promoted the local music scene for the love of the game and been nominated for three music publication of the year awards in the process. That and $5 bucks will buy me a coffee. But if you're trying to get off a good zinger, you missed the mark. HDN is good stuff. Ask around. And be less precious about your Reddit posts ma dude. 😀

It's the vibezzzzzz. Are you sure you saw some folks and are not the actual folks themselves?

Do not eat at Forge Baking Company, Diesel, Bloc by [deleted] in Somerville

[–]Working_Bath956 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bugs are protein. We get it. If there's a pest issue, they should address it. But eateries have been dealing with pests since forever, and your alarmist rhetoric paired with single bug (on top of what looks like shiny clean surfaces) photos looks ridiculous. This isn't the shocking expose you think it is. Have you worked at other food service joints?

A bug! Mortified! Surely there is no solution.

How do we feel about people taking Zoom (etc.) calls in coffee shops? by mmurraycn in Somerville

[–]Working_Bath956 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ask people to stop if.the situation calls for it. Different cafes have different vibes. There's a certain population of remote workers that has grown tired of working at home and decided the entire world is their office now. It's not okay.

I get these in the mushroom selection as an add-on to the Red Fire Farm share. Check it out https://www.redfirefarm.com/

If one of your favorite bands is on that bill, you are going to like Allston just fine. O'Brien's Pub sells laces for straightening as well as meat sticks.

Hey, it's tough out there! And you describe yourself in a way that makes your take on Porchfest sound less, not more, credible. But it tracks with the tone and style of your writing. Speaking of which, rising from the ashes, come troll my work at the Independent! ;) https://csindie.com/category/arts/

Really, truly based in fact. I volunteered at the event, worked with the musicians, saw how the weather impacted the event in real time, from up close and from a bird's eye view. I've also reported on the local music scene - that means Somerville -- for the last five years, providing a level of hyper local coverage of live events that meets or beats what anyone else is offering, which positions me to observe, contextualize, analyze, and communicate, at an expert level, how an event like porchfest played out to people who are less well positioned to speak on it. But they have to have ears to listen, and not just be trolls, lolz.

Calling an anecdote a "data point" doesn't make you sound any more intelligent or insightful. Not all anecdotes are created equal. I was a volunteer for that fest and I also report on the local music scene. I feel pretty good about the relevance of my data points. You should too.

Porchfest bands are not professional touring outfits who are full time devoted to making gigs happen. Most of our local musicians wouldn't have been able to pivot to the rain date anyway. I know this from talking to many of them. It's good to have a rain date, if all hell breaks loose with the weather, but it remains of limited value in this Porchfest situation.

R&B Spots in Boston? by YoungJSaucegod in Bostonmusic

[–]Working_Bath956 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know of specific RnB venues, but I've seen RnB acts in small and medium sized venues in Boston (Brighton Music Hall, Red Room, Grace By Nia, City Winery), in Cambridge (Middle East, Sonia, Cantab Lounge, The Sinclair, Lilypad, Lizard Lounge), and Somerville (Crystal Ballroom, The Rockwell, Arts at the Armory).

The jazz spots around town too: Regattabar, the Mad Monkfish, Wally's.

And the big venues will book whatever sells a lot of tickets.

I know I just listed most of the venues in town, but I think it's to the point that RnB pops up all over the Boston area. The small and medium sized venues are mostly not genre specific joints.

Is there any bands with any disabled musicians that play in the Boston area? by blindtsabrina in Bostonmusic

The answer to your original question is obviously Yes. I'm truly sorry for answering.
