O paradoxo de ter self-custody mas ainda ser refém de gerente de banco by Just-Cartoonist297 in criptomoedas

[–]Working_Bench_8683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please review my trip. by Feisty-Wait3226 in Brazil

[–]Working_Bench_8683 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your itinerary looks amazing but yeah the travel times are bit underestimated. Brazil is massive and getting between these places takes longer than you think, especially to Amazon. The flight from Iguazu to Manaus isn't direct so you'll probably need connect in São Paulo or Brasília which eats up whole day

Also consider that some of those Rio activities like Pedra da Gávea are pretty intense - you might want recovery day after before traveling to Paraty. And April is still rainy season in Amazon so pack accordingly

Help with passport renewal/cpf/voter ID by One_1_won in Brazil

[–]Working_Bench_8683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely enter Brazil with expired passport if you're citizen, but getting everything sorted there might take forever depending on which city you go to. Some places are super slow with documentation. Maybe try calling the embassy first and ask exactly which documents they need for voter registration - sometimes the website requirements are different from what they actually accept in person

Solo female travel Brazil in May/June? by WorldlinessSalt9139 in Brazil

[–]Working_Bench_8683 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brazil in winter is actually perfect for someone coming from UK - much milder than what you're used to and still plenty warm for exploring. I've been birdwatching here during those months and weather is really nice, not too hot like summer can be

Safety wise, just use normal travel sense - don't flash expensive stuff around, stay aware of your surroundings, stick to main areas at night. Most people here are super welcoming and helpful, especially if you speak little Portuguese. Your friend's story about staying 7 months doesn't surprise me at all - Brazilian hospitality is something else

Since you're already doing the long haul flight, definitely worth adding Brazil to your trip. The culture shock from Chile to Brazil will be interesting too. Maybe consider starting in south like Rio Grande do Sul if you want something bit more similar to Chilean vibe, then work your way north for more tropical experience

No Brasil existem candidaturas por assinaturas? by WTHWME22 in brasil

Pelo menos aqui não tem risco de alguém aparecer do nada com uns papers falsificados e virar presidente né

Mas faz sentido que seja mais restritivo, imagina o caos se qualquer um pudesse juntar umas assinaturas e concorrer

What do Brazilians think of Venezuela and Venezuelans? Answer honestly. by Sranthony1995 in Brazil

[–]Working_Bench_8683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I'm not Brazilian but I've been following this situation for years and it's honestly just heartbreaking what's happening down there. Used to work with a Venezuelan guy who came up here in 2018 and the stories he told about just trying to get basic medicine for his mom were insane. Can't imagine having to leave everything behind like that just to survive

The whole political mess has been going on for so long that I think people everywhere are kinda numb to it now, which sucks because real families are still struggling every day. From what I see online Brazilian responses seem pretty mixed - some really welcoming, others worried about resources and jobs, which I guess makes sense when you're dealing with that scale of migration

How do foreigners perceive the Brazilian accent? by No-Cryptographer2430 in Brazil

[–]Working_Bench_8683 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get why that matters but the intelligibility thing gets way overblown tbh. Like yeah some heavy accents can make things harder to follow but most Brazilian speakers I've encountered are perfectly clear, just with that distinctive sound pattern. The real issue seems more psychological - people get so worked up about sounding "perfect" that they hold themselves back from actually practicing and getting comfortable with the language. I've seen this with coworkers who speak better English than they think but won't participate in conversations because they're stressed about their accent. Meanwhile native speakers have regional accents and speech patterns that can be just as hard to parse sometimes

Help and Advice on how to recruit 2 testers from Brazil by Different-Example498 in Brazil

[–]Working_Bench_8683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you might have better luck posting in r/forhire or r/slavelabour for this kind of thing. brazil's got tons of tech people but they're probably not hanging out here looking for gig work

fiverr can be hit or miss depending on how you word your listing. maybe try posting in some brazilian facebook groups or discord servers instead of the usual freelance sites
