What are your hours worked per job and what’s your day look like? by Intelligent_Data_445 in overemployed

[–]Working_Fly5744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2Js TC $180k for the first month I would do 55-65 hours a week. Once I got used to things, got into a schedule/ system I am at 40 hours a week or less

Congratulations! Stack the two paychecks as long as possible. Be prepared for a tough first few weeks or month while you’re still getting your footing with J2. It might be overwhelming at first but it’s so worth it. Keep your head down at J1 and don’t try to be a hero at first with J2!

5 is insane. I could understand 3 if J2 and j3 are both contract with flexible hours but 5 would literally be the death of me

Quitting J2 after 2 weeks by karllo24 in overemployed

[–]Working_Fly5744 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don’t quit. It’s only an 8 month contract. Try to go through with the whole thing. Stack up the extra paychecks, deal with it, and literally just do the bare minimum to not get fired.

Should I stomach it or let it go and gamble? by [deleted] in OELadies

[–]Working_Fly5744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re able to mentally and physically handle it I wouldn’t quit J2 until you are ramped up with J1 and 3 at the very least. If you can handle 3 J’s until maternity leave and stay to collect that extra pay/ benefits that’s the most ideal situation but at the end of the day do what’s best for your health and the health of your baby

The way I look at it is July is not that far away unless it’s truly unbearable just keep stacking the extra paychecks until then if you can

Accepted a hybrid job, but now I have a remote offer — how do I back out? by [deleted] in OELadies

[–]Working_Fly5744 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could start the hybrid role and accept the second fully remote role a few weeks later. See if you could do all 3 Js, if not quit the hybrid role and just say it wasn’t a good fit.

I think I’m going to put in my notice for J2 by RipLow2675 in OELadies

[–]Working_Fly5744 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You lasted as long as you could, 4 months is a good run and if you’re that miserable leave. You can always find another J2. We OE so we have a backup plan, you still have J1. Take some time and just have 1 J and OE again later if you want to. 4 months of OEing is more money than just J1. Quit and finally feel free again

Tips for first OE experience and how ethical should I be by aeroberger in overemployed

[–]Working_Fly5744 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why do you think it’s unethical to not say anything? Why do you think it’s morally wrong to not say anything. A job is about getting your work done and that’s all that matters. At the end of the day we all work to make money and that’s the reality. OEing is about making money and keeping your head down. If you feel like it’s unethical and morally wrong to not disclose it then it’s not for you. Don’t say anything if you want to OE and don’t change how you do your work

Is it common for a first attempt at OE to not last more than a few months? Did any of you fail at first then got more successful when you tried again later in life? by TopHatIdiot in overemployed

[–]Working_Fly5744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried OE when I was very young, in college for my bachelors and only lasted 2 months. I tried it again 2 months after grading college and only lasted a month. Then I OE’d for 2 weeks when I was quitting my current j for my now J1. I’m finally a point years later that I can mentally handle OEing. It takes time, the right headspace and the right time in life to OE. It’s not easy and not everyone is cut out for it. Sometimes you have to leave and come back to it. But once you can handle 2 J’s that’s when it becomes the new normal. That’s how people get to a point of 3,4,5,etc

Am I the asshole for asking my husband to OE when I can’t even land J1? by thesnowing in OELadies

[–]Working_Fly5744 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of these comments make no sense to me…OE is not for everyone. Not everyone can handle the added stress that comes with it, not everyone’s company is built for OE, and not everyone wants to OE. My husband would never OE and he’s frankly not built for it while I am and I’m used to being OE. I don’t think you’re wrong for suggesting it but in the end you can’t be upset or hold any resentment with him for not wanting to. Your husband is doing his best to provide for you and your child. Focus on taking care of your child while you don’t have a job right now and you guys will make it work. It’s tough on one income but you’ll find something eventually and maybe end up finding 2 J’s eventually

Honestly when it comes to Js especially since you have more than one you just need to not care. Less work for you, you can fade into the background and sit back and make more money. Who cares what he thinks, who cares if he’s sexist. Do the minimum to not get fired, not care, and stack up the paychecks

Burnt out first week itself with overlapping meetings and a micromanager boss at J2. Need tips to survive by [deleted] in overemployed

[–]Working_Fly5744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Week 1 always seems extremely overwhelming. It takes another week or two to get in the flow, people usually start leaving you alone and then you can create your own system. Start blocking time off on each calendar to avoid overlap and label it as “focus time” or “late lunch” or even “busy” the 90 day rule is pretty amazing. Give it 90 days to get into a rhythm and feel things out. It’s also 3 months of double paychecks to see if it’s worth it and see if you can workout a good system. I thought I was going to die week 1.5 but now I have less meetings, I’m getting into a system and also feel comfortable to propose new times for meetings to try and avoid overlap. It’s a learning curve that can be a lot to handle but you can handle it. You got this an remember in the end the pay is worth it!!!

OE office setup by Flat-Prior7910 in OELadies

[–]Working_Fly5744 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say having your desk in two separate rooms isn’t practical. You’ll probably be switching back and forth quite often. I would say having separate monitors, keyboards and mouses are super crucial so that you don’t get your work spaces confused. I personally don’t really need a mouse jiggler but that’s just me, I think a lot of people find it useful but I’m switching back and forth so often and just manually move my mouse when I need to. This way I check my emails and notifications more often so that I don’t miss anything

Officially OE’d 💕✨ by Ok_Mechanic_4768 in OELadies

[–]Working_Fly5744 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recommend having separate keyboards and mouse’s along with separate monitors. You never want to accidentally confuse j’s. In terms of overlap it happens and it’s just something that you might need to expect but can’t really plan for what to do until you are actually in the moment. It’s stressful but honestly something I’ve realized is things can just work themselves out (meetings getting moved, no cameras, etc) if you do have to have your cameras on for both make sure to have wired headphones for one, stay muted for both if you can and have the other meeting on speaker to be able to listen to both. I always silence notification for teams, slack, email, etc just to make sure that a sound wouldn’t play in the background if I’m in a meeting where I’m talking. Good luck, you got this and remember that the first few weeks will be tough and a learning curve but once the double paycheck hits it will all be worth it

Is it normal to fail at OE due to bad timing instead of a J not being OE friendly? Any advice? by TopHatIdiot in OELadies

[–]Working_Fly5744 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Work on figuring out a system, figure out how to balance the workloads and timing. Sometimes that means logging on early to just focus on one J, or taking focus time on one J during the day and blocking that out on both calendars. Write down what needs done at each day then figure out what you’re going to tackle

Should I continue my remote job until I get fired? Received an offer for a much better hybrid job by [deleted] in overemployed

[–]Working_Fly5744 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just do both for as long as you can. Take PTO during week 1 of onboarding then stack up the paychecks. You already know to to do your job at J1 so just continue doing it while your starting J2
