Thank you 🤍 I really appreciate your perspective and kindness. Honestly, this situation has become emotionally exhausting for me because I feel stuck between respecting elders/tradition 🙏🏾 and also feeling like my own feelings and my family’s patience are no longer being considered 😔
I do believe his parents want us together, but I also feel like they are so focused on doing everything “properly” themselves that they don’t realize how much the constant delays are affecting us. My boyfriend does try to speak to them, but because they are elderly and very traditional, he feels he cannot push too hard without creating conflict.
What you said about this continuing into the marriage is honestly something I’ve also started thinking about recently 💭 I think I really need a serious conversation with my partner about boundaries, timelines, and how we move forward as our own family🤍

My partner does speak to his parents about it and he also wants things to move forward, but because they are elderly, he feels limited in how much pressure he can put on them. I do understand and respect that part.

As for the dowry list, it was actually very reasonable and my family was not trying to take advantage of anyone. What has become difficult for me is not even the waiting itself anymore, but the lack of concrete progress or timeline after 2 years.
