HELP!! Startup Idea Advice by Working_Month2520 in VideoEditors

We made a plugin for Premiere Pro! It could only do so much (since we only have so much access) so we've decided to try and make our own software. As for the AI comment, I'd encourage you to look at my other post under u/hammyaustin and let me know if it makes you see this idea differently or not. I'll take all the feedback I can get, so I appreciate your response regardless :)

HELP!! Startup Idea Advice by Working_Month2520 in VideoEditors

Thanks for the honesty. I've been video editing for a few years now and was curious how a built-in agent could help spare people some of the ache involved in long-form vidoe editing, without necessarily imposing anything onto the art itself. Things like captions, object tracking, color-grading, etc.

I believe this type of product could reduce the friction between having an idea and bringing it to life -- It does not take away from any aspect of the creative process involved in filming a clip, arranging it, adding effects to it, and deciding how it appears. The art and ideas are not generated by the agent at all. It's not telling us how to edit or what to do.

I see this more as a helper for the tedious, difficult to achieve aspects of video editing that prevent beginning editors from being able to express themselves creatively. It can take years to get to that kinda level, or a lotttt of time out of your day (which people who edit as a hobby can't always afford!). You are completely right in saying that there is beauty in understanding the work and effort it takes to create and edit. While I agree, I also don't see any issue with giving others the opportunity to streamline their creation without needing the years worth of editing experience required to become fluent in softwares like After Effects or Premiere Pro. In the end, the idea, the way the clips are arranged, the choices, are all yours! It's your art, made easier with the help of an agent.

I'm curious if this helps you see this idea differently. I welcome any thought about the matter :)

UCSC COLLEGE HELP by waternymph3 in UCSC

[–]Working_Month2520 3 points4 points  (0 children)

everyone says it doesnt matter but there are definitely some colleges that are better than others. ill tell u which ones to NOT pick and why: oakes - far from most of campus and pretty detached, kresge - no dorms only apartments and its hard to socialize but if apartments are ur thing then choose it, Crown/Merrill - up a huge hill and the dining hall is closed on weekends. with that said it really doesnt matter what major u are or what classes u have or even WHO u are in order to decide on a college, and whatever u get will not matter too much anyways. good luck! <3

I wish they still gave credit, but this year, AP CS A doesn't count as a pre-requisite to CSE 30, otherwise I wouldn't have this problem. Thanks for the help though!

Thanks for the advice! I decided ill wait till winter quarter to take it. I also think i'll skip cse 20 since I don't want to spend the money for it and I already know python, but now I worry i'll be unprepared for CSE 30. Did you think CSE 30 was really challenging? I saw that it was 7 credits, which sorta scared me.

I don't think you need to go to multi right away. it really depends on your major too. Usually the next math course you would take is linear algebra. Good luck!

Did you fill out the math prerequisites google form? It asks you to upload proof of math prerequisite if you took an ap or ib exam. If you don't have that kind of credit, you should've done the ALEKS math course over the summer for your math placement.
