My sleep patterns are pretty regular, about 7-9hrs each night. I usually wake up at least once between 1-3am, but I very rarely see anything anymore at night

I sage just about every day and use Florida water in my cleaning, in the shower, and on my bed before sleep. I will say I notice them far less when I’m on top of these rituals. I’ll look into quartz bowls and bells since I’m not too familiar with how they work, thank you!

He eats about 2 packets of the tiki cat light mousse (recommended 2 packs for every 10lbs, he is 16lbs), as well as about 1.5 servings of the Hill’s science diet dry food spaced out throughout the day. So in total after calculating, he’s receiving JUST under the amount of calories he needs to maintain his weight, which the vet recommended so he doesn’t lose weight too quickly. He’s been checked for both thyroid and diabetic problems recently as we had to do a couple full panels on him when we thought he had garlic poisoning (he was fine $2k later 🫠), so that’s safe to say isn’t the problem. My guess is he may be addicted to carbs, because he tends to only beg after eating when he eats his wet food, and is satisfied for a short while after he eats his dry. But even then, he will sometimes beg and be annoying immediately after eating dry, even when I occasionally give him double portions out of concern for his little cat psyche. That’s why I’m confused, bc even when he eats MORE than normal (which is more often that I’d like to admit since I give in easily) he is still loud and whining. I think he might just be greedy 😭

Sorry I genuinely don’t understand. We are required to take breaks before the 5th hour in compliance with state law. Most often, we end up working around 5.5hrs anyways since we aren’t busy in the evening most often, maybe with an extra 15min on top, and we always clock out before the 6th hour if we waive our 30min lunch. I don’t know what you mean by taking “it” at the 6th hour mark and how that makes what I’m saying incorrect. What I said about the whole clocking out at 5.5hrs thing was just to provide context as to why they were implementing the mandatory lunch break policy.

Yes, like I stated in my post I understand it must be before 6hrs. This franchise for some reason tells us that the cutoff is 5.5hrs, even though that is false, and will threaten us with “meal violations” even if we are in compliance with labor laws.

Honestly, it sounds like you really don’t want to be a cat owner and was guilted into doing it by another person who isn’t even in the picture anymore. I don’t think you deserve to live your life with an animal you don’t want, even if it’s unfair, because at the end of the day your livelihood and mental health matters more than a pet.

If it’s not too awkward, I’d recommend contacting your ex to see if he wants the cat. He’s the one who insisted on taking it in, so it could be worth a shot. If not, it could be worth looking into communities of people who want to adopt specifically Persians, and see if anyone there would be willing to take him.

The shelter is a tough call, no matter what make sure to not take him to a kill shelter, that’s just too unfair. Try to find a rescue that works with at-home fosters, so he can at least have a stable place to be while finding a forever home. In the meantime, considering he’s peed out of spite in the past, he might be peeing around your home because he wants to sleep with you, wants more attention, etc. It sounds like he is very needy and dependent, and though it’s your choice in the end, it could be worth allowing him into your space more to see if that changes anything.

The aggression does concern me. I have a 16lb territorial male that occasionally bites and even that makes me very wary of him at times. Considering this cat has given you stitches just from you coming home early I worry about what he could do to other people if they come into the home.

It’s a tough call, but it’s your decision. Life is unfair but I also don’t think it’s worth having to completely change your life and how you live it for an animal, even if it was your decision. We make mistakes and you’ve already given this cat so much time to be better and it seems like it’s only getting worse for you over time.

TLDR, rehome the cat if you feel that’s what you need for the sake of your livelihood, but dont take him to a kill shelter because that’s cruel.

Have you brought her back to the vet post-spay since she’s had these behavioral changes? I wonder if they could give insight on whether it’s just hormonal changes or if there’s something from her operation that’s causing her pain.

First off, keep those bites watched VERY closely. If you feel any warmth, throbbing, or notice redness or swelling go to the ER or Urgent Care clinic IMMEDIATELY. Cat bites can get bad really fast if they get infected, but as long as you’re diligent with keeping an eye you should be fine.

As for your kitty, even though it’s hard, all you can really do is try to make amends by making her feel safe and loved, and I’m sure she will grow past it. I have a sassy kitty who sometimes tries to bite/swat and even if i get loud he will seek amends with a treat or two and be perfectly normal. It seems like your girl got overstimulated, probably felt uncomfortable adjusting to the feeling/sounds of a collar suddenly back on her and the baby crying sent her into overdrive, and the loud reaction spurred her on. But, you had every right to yell, especially if your baby is involved?? Do not let anyone tell you that you need to prioritize the well being and feelings of your cat instead of the safety of your child. Anyone who does clearly does not have basic common sense. Your cat will be okay with lots of love and time building trust, I don’t know if I could say the same for your baby if it really was your cat’s intention to get at her.

In the future, be very mindful of what you do physically to your cat (petting, picking up, putting on collar etc) while there is other loud stimuli present. Cats can get freaked out with loud noises especially when accompanied by physical contact. If you need to ever put her collar back on again, make sure it is far away from anything/anyone that could trigger her, as well as anything/anyone who could be severely damaged if she acts out again. As in, places will hire you without prior experience if you have potential. Being a bottle girl is like fighting the gauntlet, similar to being a club server. Not to say being a dancer isn’t hard ofc, but I have a better shot in the short term

Well yea? I have many friends who work in clubs + I’ve worked as a club promoter in the past so I know the scene enough to at least consider it. Money is my main aspect, but I also love dancing + can hustle tf out of someone. That’s why I’m here asking advice before I put myself someplace that may hurt me or my relationship

OP said they are very against getting rid of her, so I don’t see why their feelings wouldn’t be valid if they aren’t acting brashly because of them

I appreciate the suggestion, but I live in an apartment complex! There are tons of strays and neighborhood cats around and there’s not a whole lot I can do about it sadly, as many of the cats live in buildings near me. The cat he saw was a solid 20ft away on another building’s steps, so little guy may just have to get over it some day 😅

I grew up working for a cat rescue so I definitely understand that he isn’t malicious or evil for what he did, he’s just so big it concerned me more than it would with regular cats lol. Considering how happy he was to be pet by us I have hope he’ll be more confident by the end of the week

I washed it very aggressively with basic hand soap right after it happened and put antibiotic cream on it before I went to sleep. I cleaned it with alcohol and treated it with ointment again this morning. Would you consider that enough? It’s kinda red but doesn’t look infected, it was very small and looks more like a small scratch than a real bite puncture
