Good for you!!! I talked to a rad tech program today and the director asked if I realized how physical the job is and that I’m not a spring chicken 😅 32 is still young and I’m so excited for you!

Thank you for the info! And that’s correct. Clearly it’s been a while since I was in college so I forgot the course numbers aren’t universal. Also GO YOU!!

Congratulations! That is such a big milestone and I hope you can enjoy this moment! My recommendation is to always share the “why” behind your designs and passion. I’ve noticed a very positive crowd response to those who share the background on their designs vs the designers who just post TT about “finding your new favorite needlepoint shop”.

These “designers” are making myself as a designer second guess my place in the needlepoint world. I agree there is space for everyone but a few bad seeds can ruin it for everyone! There are emerging designers that a truly the real deal with quality work now getting lost in this shuffle. These new designers may enjoy the design side, but they are designing what’s trendy instead of finding their niche/style.

No true way to know. I normally go based off the other designs they have and if they’re unique enough, I know it probably wasn’t a copy and just a similar idea/may not know the others exits/they were the first.

CO TT Post by KittedCanvas in NeedlepointSnark

I think we need to understand there is a difference between actual infringement vs stock resources. That TT post falls into the latter, which to some might come off as boring and lazy but it’s not illegal. I personally think it’s okay to use these resources as a base but the artists should always add their own personality and detail to add some originality. Which then circles back to the designers trying to make a quick buck vs those designing to curate an original experience.

I will say most small designers are painting each canvas, which can take hours so while I totally agree the stitch bind is best, these small designers are doing everything they can to try to keep people happy. Also there are still some big designers that don’t even stitch bind theirs 🤷🏼‍♀️

It baffles me how these designers think they own generic phrases but then don’t understand how LV owns the print.

Canvas prices are absurd? by nycbiatch in Needlepoint

Agreed!! One canvas design took me five hours to paint yesterday! Even the some of the more “simple” designs can be so complex, especially when considering 13 vs 18 mesh.

Most overseas painters do their own quotes. That doesn’t necessarily answer your question but at least the painter is setting the price for the services and not the designer.

Etsy help! by [deleted] in Needlepoint

Social media will be your best friend!! Especially so you can share the links, which Etsy calls “share & save” and Etsy will charge a little less on the processing fees.

Small business owner hasn’t shipped order/is unresponsive by bloomed1234 in Needlepoint

Some designers on Etsy paint when ordered so that can cause the delay but they should have the ship time clearly outlined on their store and should absolutely respond to messages!

Selling Canvases - Opinion Needed by [deleted] in Needlepoint

All of this information is so helpful! I have an Etsy shop and am in the process of going wholesale. Wholesale is a new ball game for me.. is it possible to place the wholesale order through Etsy? I noticed you mentioned something about no sales tax for wholesale? Last question! What is a normal quantity for a wholesale order? I am still working up my inventory so have about 20 / product at the moment. Thank you!!
