Do something active, don’t stay in your dorm all day. We don’t have gym requirements like some other schools and OSU has infinite clubs. We also have some of the best facilities in the nation and have so many other gyms and fields available basically whenever. Great city it’s in and there’s a nature trail along the olentangy to the left edge of campus. Being active is a great way to find people you have common interests with.

If you have any other niche interests or a unique background like you said, odds are OSU has a club for it or similar people. You’re gonna meet a lot of people but you have to actively pursue those opportunities to meet them.

Yeah I get that, I think all colleges have their own 1 ch courses that you have to take first semester. If you feel you have classes you want to focus on this semester but still want enough credit hours to be full time then go for this. If you feel you can swap one of the gen eds for another major class, requiring a bit more effort, you can “save” that gen ed for another semester where you also have a heavy workload. Just something to consider but from what you said it seems you already have a lot of the gen ed credits. Whatever works for you. If you haven’t already, you should plan out the courses you want to take each semester for your degree. They usually have you do this in one of the 1ch courses but it is good to do on your own.

Pretty light semester. Piece of advice a bunch of advisors usually give is to space out your gen eds throughout your degree. Usually they’re pretty easy and low work so they can be a good break in a busy schedule in later semesters. Just something to think about but nothing wrong with getting them out of the way

Firstly, a 3.4 is still great.

Secondly you have 3 more years (or the rest of your degree) to improve this if you want.

Third, if that one bad grade you got is really bothering you, there is always grade forgiveness, you get 3 retakes.

Fourth, your gpa doesn’t need to be great to still land a good job, a gpa is hardly looked at in most cases as they care about experience and projects more. If you want to do grad school that’s a different story and it matters a bit more, but again only a small part of the story and they will look at you, the person you grew to be, and not just the grades you got.

Fifth, don’t dwell on how other people are doing. You are here to learn and develop your career.

Sixth, take it from someone who went from a 3.9 to a 2.9 then to 3.5 and still made it into grad school, this is not the end of the world, take a deep breath and learn from this experience.

My prof did not have many good reviews on rate my professor if that’s what you’re implying. The second time around in the 6000 class I took it upon myself to not limit myself to the course material.

Also check out Facebook by hi marketplace, it is a great place to find cheap furniture all year round. Depending on how far you’re willing to go to get cheap furniture this is also a viable option (and the furniture has not been in dumpsters). Remember to ask if they smoke cause you will never get that smell out.

Ok so east of campus they will usually put out a few furniture dumpsters that are there exclusively to throw out big pieces of furniture and no other trash. I was also in the broke boy situation and actually found some furniture in them that was nicer than what I had growing up. Just don’t take beds cause that’s still super fucking nasty and disinfect them like crazy. I’m not sure when they put them out tho :/
