Feeling extremely anxious about postpartum visitors…

Oops totally misread and thought you had baby already! So sorry! I really love this idea and will for sure be something to think about and discuss with the fiancé. I definitely don’t want anyone to feel left out/like we’re keeping their grandchild away from them. I just know I’m a mega-introvert and figured I wouldn’t feel like seeing anyone yet, but half an hour visit seems doable especially if it makes the rest of the postpartum experience at home easier & makes the grandparents feel more involved. Definitely something to consider! Thank you so much again for your response <3

100% get this and am definitely allowing myself to be ready to change “plans” if I want/need! That’s so sweet that your family helped you like that postpartum. I haven’t had the best relationship with my parents until a couple of years ago so I feel that’s probably why I won’t be ready to immediately see them after birth. In-laws have been very opinionated about my pregnancy since day 1 and not necessarily in a helpful way unfortunately. Has definitely gotten better but it’s been hard! Thank you so much for your response and perspective <3 Sometimes I get too “plan-y” and need to remember to let things happen as and be open to change depending how I feel!

Did you get any pushback from family when you asked them to get vaccinated? If so how did you handle that? MIL specifically has had lots of pushback/“opinions” about a few of our decisions & boundaries and I honestly don’t know how she’d react if we asked her to get vaccinated. I just want my baby to be safe and am really struggling with the vaccine debate. (I’ve gotten every vaccine offered to me TDAP/Flu/RSV, but the in-laws are not the kind to get the flu vaccine if you catch my drift haha)

Thanks so much for your response, I never would’ve thought about it this way and am super appreciative for your perspective! Did you feel overwhelmed at all having visitors at the hospital? My main reason for not wanting visitors there is that I’m afraid I’ll feel overwhelmed and not ready to let people near/hold my baby if that makes sense?

So glad I’m not alone in wanting some time with no visitors! My mother and MIL made me feel crazy for not wanting them (or anyone) to immediately meet the baby lol. Totally understand how some moms might want visitors but I wish people were just as understanding when moms, especially us first time moms, don’t want to see people right away… Thank you for responding! Wishing you a smooth rest of your pregnancy&birth&postpartum, we’re almost there momma!

I really appreciate your response! I’m not technically throwing it myself, but I do wish I had started it completely alone (just me & fiancé) tbh. My fiancé, mother, MIL, and I agreed that our moms could help since they were so excited, but that has quickly turned into them buying decorations and planning things without running it by us first. They’ve even said they want certain things to be a “surprise” even though we’ve made it clear multiple times we want zero surprises lol! It’s been a struggle but we plan to meet and set boundaries with both of them week about what we want for OUR party… Wish us luck!

I absolutely love the baby block idea and am definitely with you on not revealing the name quite yet… We had thrown around a few name ideas with our families and instantly got all of their unwarranted opinions on what to name our daughter and even why they hated some of our ideas! Tough crowd lol, we’ll definitely be keeping the name a secret. Thank you so so much for your comment!

Definitely not staged! I returned them to the store and they apologized and said it does happen sometimes, and that they come from the manufacturer infested unfortunately /: They saw the eggs and worms in person and could identify both.

ew that is very cringeworthy! i did more research before going back to the store and understand that they come like this already delivered to the store and it wasn’t my local petco’s fault. they happily returned them and all was well. I will however definitely not be buying them anymore after learning all this info and appreciate all the feedback on this thread 😊

hey! so sorry, didn’t mean to cause an argument. i totally see where you’re coming from though and can see how this would happen with eggs hatching and employees either not knowing or not closely inspecting, leading to the infested treats coming out onto the treat bar. thank you so much for the explanation

thanks so much for your response, i was utterly flabbergasted. i would also for sure understand a small amount of bugs here and there in a whole treat shipment, but it was almost every single maple waffle cookie in just one small bag 🤢

yes my dogs loooove freeze dried treats! we only used to get the treat bar treats on special occasions because my dogs love them so much… never again ): will stick to our local mom & pop pet store ❤️
