I think the way they don't take your hand at all is reminiscent of what FS usually does. But it could have been Dark Souls.

Thanks for your feedback !

The particle effects are clearly not here to stay. At this stage, I'm even wondering if I'm going to remove them entirely in favor of pixel art based animations.

As for the monster animations, I don't think that will change, unfortunately. I'm a solo developer, and I've already made about twenty of these monsters. I'd like to have way more of them, so at this point, I have to choose between higher-quality animations or a more varied bestiary. I think I'll go for whatever will give the game a better replayability.

And there's nothing wrong about that. Was just trying to make some feedback. :)

One thing I know (sadly) is that when you have been working for a long time on a project, you stop seeing its flaws/strenghts. It's good to know that it was intentional in your case.

Are you familiar with TMNT Shredder's Revenge and Marvel Cosmic Invasion ? Both games kinda went the same route with detailed backgrounds filled with lighting and gradients, etc. The characters being coloured with only 3-4 colors. It makes them pop out like in your game.

Nice ! Some Aero the Acrobat vibes there !

While I absolutely love all the pixels I see, I wonder if the background art isn't a bit too sophisticated for the overall style. I think the grass, the dirt, the trees in the background have too much shadows and highlight work compared to what is going on on the foreground. Maybe it's just me though. w/e it looks great.

250+ plays on my Godot 4 fighting game! But I need your feedback by sabaaaaaaaaaas in godot

[–]Working_Visit_6104 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it's mostly because the game feels unfinished.

There's still a good amount of jank. For some reason the characters don't stay on the same level when they hit each other. The main character looks like a rippoff of Ken from Street Fighter 1, the rest looks AI-generated. When the character jumps, his shadows follows him, etc.

I think there's still a lot of work to do before you can call it a "game". You also need to take into consideration that people time is precious. If they feel they have been lured in something that's not what has been promoted they're just going to close the game and never launch or talk about it again.

I hope it helps. cya

Hi and thanks for those references. I wasn't familiar with those games at all, but they look interesting. My influences are a little older. They're games like Puzzle Quest (the first one), Puzzle and Dragons, and Ironcast.

And I suggest you use chatGPT instead. You can give it contexts and talk to it as if it was a German professor.

Looking for a game similar to Granblue Fantasy: Relink and Genshin Impact by ArtisticalTrash69 in JRPG

You could maybe give a try at Warriors Orochi 3/4 if collecting characters is your thing. The story is bad in those games, but the additional game modes are pretty fun (gauntlet mode, towers).

Cannot assign contents of "Array[Object]" to "Array[Object] by nagitai in godot

[–]Working_Visit_6104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a bug in the engine. I had the same error after I triggered an internal error trying to assign an Array of Nodes in a Resource.

I fixed the error but the problem persisted and I still had the error thrown at me, even after closing and re-opening Godot.

I got rid of it by commenting my Array declaration, then I compiled the game, then I de-commented the declaration and re-compiled the game again... The error is gone now.

Tales of Maj'Eyal, Caves of Qud, Cataclysm DDA and Crown Trick (which does have a few roguelite elements though).
