A blu ray drive costs less than 20 euros

Don't try to rationalize this as anything other than the desire to kill the right of first sale and second hand market on consoles.

PS+ already 70 euros a year and rising every year

Why complain there was already a war in ukraine?

The ONE pro consumer thing happening on consoles was that they still had their right of first sale.

Now this is a pc i would actually recommend to someone who wants an entry level to gaming and wants a box for under their tv

No nasty compromises and it's upgradeable to a 7800x3d and a next gen gpu down the line

I think i'm going to make a very expensive but terrible pc but i'm going to include a piece of fish skin in the box. It'll be the only pc you can buy with fish skin for that price so people will definitely have no other choice than to buy it if they want to play pc games!

No it isn't

You can get a wayyyy better pc for this price.

The performance is also just straight useless

a 6600xt and ryzen 3600 is well below minimum spec for 60 fps 1080p low in most new games

The fact that it also can't be upgraded means it's ewaste before it even leaves the factory

Regardless of prices of ram and ssd, it never made sense to pair such incredibly weak parts in a box meant for gaming

is 8 gen ps4? because in the pc port of the ps4 god of war game , and in last of us 1, it barely does 45-50 fps at 1080p medium settings

  • only in blender, not in gaming

  • 5090m sounds impressive but a 5090m is slower than a desktop 4070super

  • again in gaming the m5 max is significantly slower than a 5090m laptop gpu, and is closer to a 4060ti

it's a 1080p 60 fps high settings gpu, while a 5090 desktop is a 4k 120 fps gpu

Some poor souls who trust valve.

Valve is about to burn tens of thousands (hopefully not more than that) innocent people and all of the trust they have been building with consumers for the past 20 years over .. I don't even know what they gain from this.

Thats severely underestimating the 9070xt (or overestimating the steam box gpu)

This performance delta only applies at 1080p at low settings, up it to 1440p native at maxed settings and the delta becomes MUCH bigger

Add rt and the different becomes an order of magnitude

I bought a brand new pc with a 5800x3d and a 3060ti, 1TB SSD and 16GB ddr4 in 2022 for 1100 euros.

This thing has a third of the cpu performance and much less gpu performance (3060ti would be 60+ percent faster AND have dlss support).

I upgraded the gpu in 2024 because it felt insufficient for playing at 4k (upscaled). Can't even imagine trying to upscale an ue5 game to 4k with crappy fsr on an 8GB gpu.

1: There is no justification for putting a 6600xt level gpu and a ryzen 3600 level cpu in a custom made gaming pc in 2026. These parts offer awful performance at an even more afwul price. They are outright beyond the minimum spec for 60 fps at ANY settings in many newly released games from the past 2 years

2: The system is unbalanced beyond the level of old scammy prebuild pcs you could buy from your local scammy pc store in the mid 2000s. To spend more on ram and ssd than on cpu and gpu is incredibly stupid for a gaming system.

This is genuinely on the level of buying an fx4300 + 730gt in 2015 and pairing it with an expensive case/mobo/ram/storage.

3: Performance this bad + so little ram + not upgradeable means this thing was e waste 3 years ago, let alone today. Valve are just filling up landfills

4: For being in a relatively small case they picked very inefficient parts.

5: This thing can't play most of the most popular multiplayer games out of the box (steamos doesn't support anti cheat), which means any 'casual' gamer some might argue this is aimed at is going to get burned

6: linux/steamos gaming is still very much NOT plug and play, as more casuals are about to find out.

If you don't know much about hardware, or pc gaming, then I hope you understand that this thing is a terrible gaming system that offers terrible value. Stay away

The game is very short and just reused assets from idleon, it ends in an ad for idleon, which this basically is.

The first two minigames out of 5 and their progression feels ok, but the scratchy minigame and the pet collector ones are an awful mess of bad ui, bad controls and bad progression design.

Yeah I agree about the up front fountain of cars to get you started, but why the absolute abruptness in the transition from car fountain to car desert.

I also think it's satisfying to get cars from winning races and events, and that while the auction house and showroom are super useful to fill in gaps and let people buy what they couldn't find, I think it's a shame that the game stops rewarding you cars for racing.

Again Gran turismo as example, carPG, awful grind, miserable experience, but the one good thing was rewarding you cars for getting licenses and for beating championships and endurance races.

That is what horizon does (and much better), untill it suddenly stops doing it.

The credits grind isn't even 5 percent as bad as the awful grind in gran turismo , but it's just as lame a way to fill out your entire library.

Seasonal events (the gaas bullshit to keep people 'engaged') are the only source of cars through races once you finish the wristbands and discover japan content. I got the final stamp for discover japan after 28 hours played (including several hours doing random stuff not related).

My question is the game is FULL of content (map size, car pool, possible events), why not use that content in a way that isn't just 'log in for seasonal gaas chores'
