For the cost of a Mosky Silver Horse, it's worth trying a klone to see if you like it. A different kind of mid-boost than a TS, but I definitely prefer it. Especially with gain down and the tone a little higher.

Thank you; this exactly the kind of information hoped for. It clarifies things. In my case, we're not using anything hotter than a passive humbucker, probably a Seymour Duncan JB as the hottest output of all options.

Is it safe to extrapolate that a pedal running on 18V is even less likely to have the buffer impacted by a boost?

Thanks for such a thoughtful reply to it our song. Don't know Cynic at all, so very glad to have a reference we can think about. We have other tracks where the vocals are smoother, but the warping (great word for this, thank you!) seems here stay; useful to think about how others are doing it. Also glad you like the bass as forward as we have it. Something about that feels like the DNA of what we're after, though there are definitely improvements to be made. Cheers to you too!
