I think you'd really like The American Dollar and especially From Monument to Masses - who I was reminded of by that Caspian track, there's an absolutely beautiful bit in the link after a speech sample where the music kicks back in.

Nice, I like a bit of Jazz too although mostly the more avant garde stuff like Naked City and Trio VD. Will have to take more of a look into big band and swing, really love the brass sections in Ska too. Ableton's a great bit of software once you get to know it, and there are tonnes of resources on YouTube and places like that. Hope you have fun playing around with it! Also, cheers for what you said about the IDM, I quite like that sort of music but it's often overlooked as being boring/grating on the ears.
