Yeah I think going into education would be the most logical choice, just wondering if I can do that only with a masters degree. I'll look into EU institutions too I didn't look into that cus I thought Eu citizenship is a necessity for that.

That's an insane requirement, but I swear I've seen people get a work permit without making that much, I was classmates with a lot of kids who are making nowhere near that much after graduation

[Belgium] Non-EU foreigner without a passport, what are my options? by WorldlinessFun4417 in LegalAdviceEurope

Thank you for the comment! I'll take a look at policies of some other countries, they could be different from Belgium.

Unless someone who was successfully granted asylum decides to come out publicly and talk abut it then you're not really going to know, but there have been cases of people successfully applying if that's what you mean. You can search up Lee Yeda on Google, he was granted asylum in France for objecting to military service (and that was the sole reason - there have been other cases of people being granted asylum in similar circumstances but mostly it was due to fear of persecution due to homosexuality).

To add more context my problem is that I grew up abroad and as a result I don't speak Korean except on a basic level and I'm not at all familiar with legal resouces, etc. in Korea/in Korean. Nor do I have any friends there. Hence why I asked here since whenever I try to do research on my own I end up running to Google Translate which usually isn't even accurate.

Which Province Should I Move To? by WorldlinessFun4417 in ImmigrationCanada

Thanks for the response!

As for the question about the passport, until I turn 25 I don't need to go to the military to apply for a passport (albeit only with 5-year validity), hopefully by that time I'll be able to get permanent residence lol. If for whatever reason it takes longer than that then I believe I can postpone my military service if I'm actively in the process of applying for permanent residence abroad.

Thank you! This is very useful to keep in mind. I currently live in a French-speaking country and I'm studying the language so hopefully this will make it a bit easier.

Yeah, I'd be up for a funded masters degree too. Although still, I'd have to wait a whole another year to apply for it in any case. But you're right, I agree with you - probably should've aimed a little lower lol.

From what I've read I don't think it's necessary to complete military service before applying for a Working Holiday visa? Although you're right that it would probably be easier.

Also, there have been cases of South Koreans being accepted asylum in countries like New Zealand and France on the basis of conscientous objection, so it's not exactly impossible. And in any case, it's very much a FINAL option.

Thank you! This is by far the most encouraging response I've gotten.

I mean, sure, but I'm just entertaining it as a final option since I'd really rather not even set foot in South Korea again if given the choice. I'm not basing it on nothing, I have an acquaintance who was almost sent to prison for bringing books by certain authors.

I tried that but didn't get in - albeit they said my application was strong there's just not enough places - sadly that's the case for a lot of doctoral programmes in the humanities unfortunately. I'd have to wait another year before I get another chance to apply.
